Hiya! How you doing? John here. I do love a wedding. Ones that are different, chilled out, relaxed and fun....individual and yours. I guess you want a photographer that can match that and capture it? Invisible by being visible, I get into the crowd and get those images of people being themselves. If you want someone who professional but a lot of fun, someone you can get on with and see your vision for the day, however mad it may be, I reckon we will get on like a treat! Come say Hi!

Engaging and fun!
John was a fantastic choice for our day. He has everything that you would expect from a professional photographer bit where John raises above the rest is his excitable and eccentric passion for his craft! He is always looking for an abstract shot or an interesting angle. His humour and relentless good mood added a wonderful extra element to our day.

His good nature and enthusiasm was a joy!
It was such a pleasure to have John photograph our wedding. As he told us himself when we first met - it is important to have someone you like doing the photos because they will be with you all day. John's professionalism, good nature and enthusiasm meant having him around was a joy. But the photos are the most important thing, and they were fantastic. Every time we look through the photos it is like reliving the day, but also, there are a couple of gems in there that we will treasure forever. You can't ask for more than that! We could not recommend John highly enough.

So much fun!
John shot our wedding in late September in central London and was absolutely amazing. We had given him a brief that we wanted a more informal vibe and he really understood that and helped us keep that feel for our special day. He also did a pre-wedding shoot with us, somewhere locally to us where we'd got engaged and again got some amazing pictures and helped us feel relaxed before the big day. I have only good things to say about John's professionalism, his enthusiasm and would heartily recommend him.

John was simply amazing throughout
From the very first contact John made us feel so at ease giving us some advice we hadn't even thought of! Immediately we knew we wanted to choose John for our special day and we're so glad we did! From our engagement shoot where John made us feel so natural after the original nerves and getting some great shots, to the wedding day itself where he was running back and forth between both bridal and groom party preceremony getting some amazing pictures and making us both feel relaxed and at ease ready to enjoy the day! John was simply amazing throughout the whole process and we cannot thank or recommend him enough!

He really is very talented at what he does
John kindly photographed our wedding on Monday 4th September at Bassmead and I am writing this to say that we can't thank him enough for sending over the photographs so quickly and capturing our day so beautifully. John did such an amazing job, we really love our photos. The whole journey with him was so pleasant, he is such a nice person and we are so happy that he was able to take such beautiful photos of our big day. Our guests were very complimentary about the photos and everyone commented how well he captured people's expressions. There are some truly amazing shots which will be going up on the wall! In fact, I want to put all of them up on the wall! Some of the shots were done so uniquely and that is what we love about his work. He really is very talented at what he does. We also love the memory sticks the images were provided on, they're so different. Some of our friends who are getting married next year were asking for his details, so I sent them a link to his website. Hopefully John gets what he so richly deserves from these recommendations! Thanks you again John!

Observational, natural shots, amazing
Johns passion for photography really shines through, and is beautifully evident in the amazing collection of photos captured during our wedding. Looking through the photo’s we get to see all the bits a bride and groom tend to miss. Snaps of us each getting ready, our proud parents sharing secret smiles, reactions to our arrival when we only had eyes on each other, laughter at the speeches, friends and guests enjoying the day, I could go on! We asked John for a lot, and he did not disappoint. From formal photos for our family to private photo’s for us, John was very amenable and did everything we asked. He was never obtrusive and at times we forgot he was there! The resulting observational, natural shots are amazing. A very talented photographer with a friendly approach, he will always get our recommendation.

What is your most memorable wedding?

I can't split between two really. The first was a totally off the wall, completely different and quirky wedding that was held outdoors on the quayside of an old, listed and converted warehouse that ran alongside the canal in the West Midlands. A glorious day, guests seated on hay bales, bride wearing evening dress and multicoloured and personalised Converse boots, groom wearing jeans and brogues, meal was a fish and chip from a van, guests on a canal boat and a guitar playing in the crowd It was just the most fun! The second was a New Years Eve wedding at a venue in Cambridge for a same sex couple. One of my most memorable photos ever was shot at this wedding (check out the fireworks shot in my portfolio) and it was just so much fun to be around people who were the most chilled, relaxed people I have had the pleasure to photograph! The dance floor after midnight was bouncing to the AMAZING live band so much I had to stop taking pictures as I couldn't keep the camera still! A brilliant wedding!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Quirky, fun, discreet, different, friendly

What about your business are you most proud of?

Honestly, it's the feedback I get from couples. It genuinely humbles and warms me and I have to say, I get a little bit red in the cheeks reading some of the lovely stuff people have said about me. And without fail (and this is really lovely as I am really, really not a person to blow their own trumpet), they also mention me and my approach, friendliness and helpfulness in the same feedback. I always feel I am just doing my job, but others see it differently and really do appreciate what I do for them as a couple as well as their photography. It's so lovely and that, yeah, makes me very proud

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don't panic!!!! Honestly, I have seen amazing weddings organised in a couple of months. You will find that things tend to fall into place when they need to.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Mentioned it above. The bride with multicoloured, personalised Converse boots! I LOVED that!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

On enquiry via my site or email, I get back within 24 hours, introduce myself, send a brochure and explain my process to them. Then arrange a meet up (vitally important to me), either at the couple's house, a venue of their choosing, you name it. We get together, have a cuppa or a drink, discuss the day, never money unless they want to. I am not a salesperson! I let them go away and have a think about it. Then a follow up email the day after. If the couples decide to book, contracts, booking fee details and any other stuff needed is sent and we are done! Then it's keeping in touch, helping where I can, answering questions or giving advice, you name it. It's a simple, friendly, non-pressured process. Suits me, suits you!

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

I ALWAYS try and get is that one show stopper. The one that the couple would want to get printed large and hang on the wall maybe. That tops the day off. Yes the ones of the day are the bread and butter for the couple. The things they didn't see, the ones that make them laugh. But I adore giving the couple something completely unique to them, that venue and their day.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

Probably the fireworks at Midnight on New Years Eve. In the scheme of wedding photography, it's probably not that original. But there are few opportunities for individual photographers in their career to do one and I got that chance. And it was so completely worth it because of when it was, what it represented and what I had to put in to create the image for them.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Wellies and brollies and just get on with it! Nothing that can be done and may as well have a good time anyway! Weirdly, the fun happens even more when the guard is down, so yeah, be prepared and go with the flow. You will be surprised at how good your day is!

Describe how you got into photography.

I had been into photography, shooting film and predominantly black and white, from quite a young age after my parents brought me an old Practika SLR. Then I shot a couple of people and it just clicked. Who knew?! And it grew and grew from there, never really stopping until I was asked to be a second shooter at a wedding and I was hooked. And here I am a fair few years later. Still loving photography and still loving my job!
