How to Choose a Wedding Florist

Time to find a florist. And who knew flowers could be so difficult! That’s not to say they aren’t beautiful, because they are and they definitely add a certain romance to your day that nothing else can seem to match.

But with the vast array of options you have to choose from, it can be difficult to know where to start. Picking a florist that will suit your theme can be tricky(depending on how obscure your theme is). Follow this template and you will have a shortlist in the next 30 mins.

1. Determine your style

5-10 mins

Follow our guide on how to use Pinterest to plan your wedding. Make a standalone board called “flowers”……or something more creative if you have the energy. Pin, Refine, Define. Done

2. Google “[your style] wedding florist [your city]”

10-15 mins

I don’t need to tell you how to use Google so forgive me for even mentioning this. But hey, this is a step-by-step guide. So let’s say you decide on a boho theme and you live in London…..your search would be “boho wedding florist London”. [sigh]Patronisingly obvious! I apologise.

Go onto each site on the first 2-3 pages and if you like what you see, grab their email address. Stick them all into a spreadsheet or notes. If they only have a contact form(no email address shown) leave the tab open. Alternatively, check their Facebook. Many businesses put their email address in the “about” section of their Facebook page.

3. Send this email to all the florists you like

5-10 mins

Copy the below text and paste it into a new email. Send it to all the email addresses on your list(don’t paste them all into the “To:” field. If you want to do them all at once, use “BCC:” or set up a mail merge if you know how). Send.

Hi there,

I am contacting you to enquire whether you would be available on the date of [your wedding date] to provide flowers for my wedding, taking place at [your wedding venue].

I found you via google and liked the look of your work. If you are available on the above date, I would be very grateful if you could contact me on [your contact number] to discuss this further.

Many thanks in advance

Now go back into all the tabs you have left open(the businesses who only had a contact form) and paste the email into every form and send.

4. Await responses – Bam! You’ve got your shortlist!

Hopefully most of them will get back to you. Some(or many) may be unavailable on your wedding date which instantly excludes them. You will probably get a feel for which florist you like best by the way they communicate with you and the ideas they come up with.

And that’s it. You should now have your florist(or at least a tiny shortlist).
