What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Have fun with it! It shouldn't be stressful, after all it's an exciting part of your journey as a couple so, make sure you plan your day how you wish. It's your vision and it must reflect who you are as a couple and not be the ideas of someone else. You don't want to have any regrets. Also, use Bridebook!! It's such a great tool to help you plan your wedding down to the very last detail.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I always love to see the couple reflected in their planning. Be it the flowers, centerpieces or cake it's always a great touch.
I think my favourite touch so far would have to be a Labrador. The brides' father unfortunately passed away before her wedding day and the couple had taken on his beloved dog. He was the one who gave her away on the day and walked so proudly down the isle with her in his best collar. Not a dry eye in the house when her brother brought him in to see her before she left for the ceremony, I can tell you.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I like to give as much information as I possibly can within that very first email/call. I will send over my price list along with my terms and conditions and then forward a quote. I always offer a free pre- consultation meeting after the quote so we can chat through any thoughts and ideas and I can answer all the questions you may have before securing your date. Once we have met or talked on the phone/zoom call the booking fee is paid and a booking form issued and signed. A trial session will then follow, I recommend a trial is booked a minimum of 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding day.
What do you love most about your job?
I love sharing a part of a couples day. Being a part of their memories for years to come is just an honour. I love the festivities of bridal preparation and just love being around people. I will never tire of helping someone to look and feel their very best and play such an important role on someones wedding day. My job is not work, it's passion.
What is your No. 1 beauty tip for a bride?
SKINCARE! It's the basis for a great makeup. If you have a good skincare regime your makeup will apply easier & look flawless meaning you will need less to look the very best version of 'you' possible on the day of the wedding.
How do you keep the bride feeling calm on her wedding day?
Be at her beckon call! I make sure that she gets to relax for the whole time she's sat in my chair and even when she steps out of it. I keep a very close eye on my brides and ensure they are fed and watered, kept calm and relaxed at all times. I usually recommend that she gives her phone to a trusted person for her time with me & get her mum or maid of honour to deal with questions/deliveries until we are finished, so she gets to switch off. I also use fantastic aromatherapy based skincare products that help to calm & sooth the mind.
What advice would you give to brides to stay looking great throughout their wedding day?
Drink plenty of water throughout the day. For each alcoholic drink have a glass of water with it. Have blotting paper and tissues handy (usually left with a trusted bridesmaid) & her top up lippy. Everything else will stay put until the evening ends. If tears are shed, use a blotting tissue & dab the eye area lightly don't rub.
