What is your most memorable wedding?
I was booked to be part of a wedding for the beautiful bride who was eloping with her husband to be and it was only myself and the hairdresser who were present to help them get ready for their big day. It was such an honour to be part of the most important day with them as no family or friends were present and I assisted my bride into her dress so I was on hand to help her to get ready outwith her makeup application. Such a beautiful couple married in the perfect venue on such a stunning day.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Elegant, bespoke, flawless, glowing and classic
What about your business are you most proud of?
That I have been booked by the loveliest of brides and bridal parties to provide makeup for them on one of the most special days and that I have many five star reviews on my Facebook page from happy clients. I am proud that my business is going from strength to strength all due to the fantastic clients that I have who have faith in my makeup application and who book me.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
To not leave booking your makeup artist too late as they may not have availability for your chosen date and to ensure that there is still enough time to organise a trial prior to the wedding day.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I have seen so many personal touches at a wedding but I love it when I am applying wedding makeup and the bride gives gifts to her bridal party and her mum to give them a momento of being part of her day and that they are very important to her which always gets the tears flowing including me at times!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I generally will deal with the bride directly and don't tend to find that many grooms are involved with the process of booking my makeup services however, I am more than happy to provide any information that is requested to bride, groom as well as any member of the bridal party. I will generally receive an enquiry either by phone, Facebook message or by e-mail and I will ensure that I respond in a prompt manner (24 hours where possible) and provide all pricing information as well as discussion the brides requirements for her makeup application and other bridal party members. I will also discuss the finer details of the wedding and can arrange a trial only if the bride or bridal party would like to do this first to ensure that I am the makeup artist that she would like to book for her wedding.
What do you love most about your job?
I love to meet all my brides to be and bridal parties and love that I can use the luxury makeup brands that I have in my professional kit to enhance a persons natural beauty. Make up should not be a mask and should be used correctly to enhance a persons best features while still ensuring that the person feels like the most flawless version of themselves and comfortable throughout the whole day.
What is your No. 1 beauty tip for a bride?
My number one beauty tip for the bride would be to focus on her skin care routine on the run up to the wedding which I can happily advise about as I am a qualified Beauty Therapist also. Exfoliating skin and correct moistursing products will make such a difference to the condition of the skin and how the makeup will look on the skin on the day of the wedding.
How do you keep the bride feeling calm on her wedding day?
I like to leave at least an hour per person for makeup application and I also to finish all makeup applications at least an hour before the bride needs to leave so that no part of the makeup applications feel rushed. It also gives the bride and bridal party an hour to relax and enjoy what is such a special day before needing to get their dresses on and leave for the church or wedding venue.
What advice would you give to brides to stay looking great throughout their wedding day?
I would say that you may wish to have a small powder compact for any small touch ups that may be required throughout the day and also the lip products that are used at the trial so that you can touch up throughout the day or evening after eating or drinking.
