Jenny’s Cakes opened their architect-designed bakery for business in 1986, and celebrate 30 years in business in 2016. Husband and wife Proprietors Jenny and Tom Breen offer a truly personal service to each client: ‘‘Everyone wants that memorable wedding cake for their big day, but might be unsure of how to choose their dream cake. We open the doors of our bakery to couples planning their wedding, and invite clients to discuss their wedding cake ideas in the relaxed and beautiful environment of our Bakery and Garden Room, over a nice cuppa and some tasty cake samples. We then sketch out and fine-tune the design before finalising the details- We call this ‘Tea and Tasters’.”
“We have a wide selection of beautiful display cakes in our Bakery and Garden Room”, says Jenny. “This helps clients to see some of the styles of wedding cake that we can create- traditional Scottish, Floral themes, rustic, vintage and modern, and even some designs with bit of ‘bling’ . Our wedding cake display provides a useful starting point for the design, and also shows different sizes of cake to cater for different wedding numbers”. “We limit our work to a maximum of five wedding cakes each week- this allows us time to get to know each client, and tailor a unique wedding cake design each time. We involve couples in all aspects of their wedding cake design”, adds Tom- “We use our knowledge to design each cake as a unique centre-piece. We pull together different aspects of the wedding, such as the bridal gown design, floristry, venue décor, bridesmaid’s colours, and importantly the personalities of each couple. (We often send grooms up to the bakery, so that we can have a look at images of the gown on the bride’s mobile phone in the Garden Room!)”

Describe your typical process with a couple.
We limiit our work-load to ensure that we provide personal service to each client, from initial contact through to a consultation and tasting session at the bakery, where we discuss the overall themes of the wedding and then we design and sketch cake ideas before arriving at a final wedding cake design.
What is your signature cake?
Our Summer Garlands four tier cake with bands of sugar-crafted flowers- roses, sweetpeas and tendrils, eucalyptus leaves, filler buds, peonie roses, toppd off with a couple of love-birds.
What is the most original creation you have baked for a wedding?
Probably a wedding cake made for two pilots, with the top tier in the shape of clouds with models of the bride and groom in a model p-lane in pilots outfits.
