Full Description
  • I've been making cakes for over 10 years, firstly as a hobby for family and friends, but this has now blossomed into a full-blown business, employing both my husband and sister! I have a fantastic studio which I share with some other amazing wedding businesses, and this is where I offer free, no-obligation consultations with my couples to create their perfect wedding cake surrounded by examples of other cakes and samples from the best in other North-East businesses. Everything is cooked in my own kitchen at home to ensure that each cake is given the attention that it deserves and comes with the home-made charm that you will not find elsewhere. In 2017 I was fortunate enough to be shortlisted as the 2018 Wedding Awards Regional Finalist for the North East & Yorkshire, the only supplier outside of Yorkshire to make it that far. On top of that, I won the Wedding Guide Award for Outstanding Customer Service in 2014 and was shortlisted for it in 2013, 2015 and 2016. These awards mean the world to me as they come from my Couples, and reflect my ethos - to provide the best service, give each couple exactly what they want, and to make everything individual to them. I am proud to have made it to the final auditions for the 2012 series of the BBC's "The Great British Bake Off" and be recommended supplier to most of the North East's best venues. Many of my couples are now personal friends, and come back for repeat orders whenever they can think of an excuse! I work hard to build these relationships to make sure I can provide you with the perfect order for your perfect day. If you have no idea of what you're after, or are full of ideas and don't know where to start, I’m sure after a chat we'll be able to design you something that will suit you in every way!

Ask a question
What about your business are you most proud of?
I'm most proud of the way that my couples recommend me to others. I get most of my business through recommendations, and it's the relationships I build with my couples that makes me both the proudest and happiest!!
What is your #1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Plan early, then relax! We're taking bookings for 3+ years in advance, but all we ask for is a consultation and small deposit to secure your date, then you can relax, knowing one of the important things is sorted! Planning a wedding it supposed to be fun.. I'll do my best to take as much pressure off you both as possible! :)
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I love the little stuff - Things most people would overlook... I've made little figures hidden in the design of a cake; Favours and table decorations that mean nothing to anyone except the couple; or whole themes that shouldn't normally work, but just sum up your personalities! It's your day, why not make it REALLY yours?!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I normally have a chat with my couples via email / message to start, to make sure I'm available for your chosen day and have a quick discussion about ideas etc. Then I'll book you in for a free, no-obligation consultation at my Studio, where we can discuss your ideas in more detail, you can try some cake flavours and see some examples of my work, all over a cuppa! The studio setup means I also have examples of Stationery, Chair Covers, Flowers and Photography all around me, so you can get ideas about more than just your cake! Then, I'll sketch up your design, send out a written quote and breakdown of our Consultation. If you want to book, you then pay your deposit to secure your date, with nothing more to worry about until 6 weeks before the big day. At that point, we'll touch base again, make sure everything is still as you want it to be, and you pay the remainder of your balance. Then, on the day, I'll come and get everything set up, so you have nothing to worry about and can just enjoy the day!!
What is your signature cake?
My Teapot cake is the thing I'm best known for, and it's made its way into my logo too!
What is the most original creation you have baked for a wedding?
Recently I have made a Walking Dead wedding cake - complete with zombies and a blood-covered Bride and Groom!!!!
What would be your show stopper in the Great British Bake Off?
I got the the final auditions of the 2012 series of GBBO, so this is easy for me! I made a rough iced White Chocolate and Raspberry cake - which the judges said was "amazing" :)
