Here at The Yummy Pudding Company we like to take a different approach to the traditional wedding cake in that all our cakes are finished in buttercream. Some of you may be wondering ... what does this mean? Well it means I don’t use any kind of rolled icing, such as fondant, or make sugar decorations such as flowers etc but all cakes are finished off with a layer of butter icing made from butter and icing sugar. Adorned with fresh flowers, gold leaf, stencilled patterns or however you may choose to dress yours, we take pride in creating beautifully elegant and contemporary wedding cakes that are finished to a high standard.

What is your most memorable wedding?

It was an honour making the cake for the owners of Low Hall the lakes. It was the most vibrant cake I've ever made and those two know how to throw a wedding!

What about your business are you most proud of?

I am most proud of how much my business has grown in the last couple of years. Being asked to feature in Cumbria Wedding magazine was something I could have only dreamed of and I hope in the future I can get my work featured elsewhere as well.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don't forget to style the cake! Think about what it's going to sit on? How are you going to dress the table it's sat on? Where will it be in the room? Cakes look good on display but they come to life when they are styled and displayed in a way that compliments the rest of your decor

Describe your typical process with a couple.

With every couple I start by asking them to email a few details about their day, the venue, date, number of guests etc and any ideas they may have for their cake and I will provide a rough quote. Following this, all couples are invited to a consultation if they wish where they can discuss their ideas further as well as try some delicious tasters of their choice. Or for those who aren't local I offer a postal service for their tasters.

What is your signature cake?

My signature cake has to be my white chocolate and raspberry cake. It is a firm favourite with all guests of all ages!

What is the most original creation you have baked for a wedding?

The most original so far has to be the super colourful and vibrant Rio inspired cake I made for the owners of Low Hall the lakes. Three tiers of yellow, pink and navy with some amazing florals!

Describe how you got into making wedding cakes.

I've made cakes for a long time and naturally just started taking wedding cake orders and fell in love with making them!

What would be your show stopper in the Great British Bake Off?

My show stopper would be a super tall, super elegant wedding cake adorned with the most beautiful fresh flowers and foliage, and of course made up of thee most delicious flavours!
