Prickly Pear is based in the rich landscape of the Brecon Beacons National Park so therefore Jane has always sourced her produce personally and locally. Her food, and her ideas, are fresh and stylish and designed to fit perfectly with each couple’s day. Jane will sit down with you from the beginning to discuss styles, themes, menus and dreams – and you can leave the rest to her. Whether your wedding is in a castle, a circus top or a cottage, whether you want canapés, sausage ‘n’ mash or a five-course bespoke feast, Prickly Pear will make it happen. Additionally, Jane offers a bar service alongside the food. Many of Jane’s friendly staff have worked with her from the very beginning – a recommendation in itself – and they rub along seamlessly to deliver something very special, every time. We are proud to have won the Welsh Hospitality Award for the Welsh Caterer of the year 2016/17

What is your most memorable wedding?

A few years ago we catered for a wedding in a big Circus Top tent. The couple decided to hire the tent including the acts because it was spontaneous and cheaper, thus making it all the more fun! We worked around the circus acts during the day and it was so much fun!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Go to the food tasting, taste the food and explore your ideas for your special day.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

A wedding last year at The Sugar Loaf Barn, hosted a wedding for the family who own the barn. The bride had personal touches such as dates and a tractor sewn into her wedding dress and it was stunning. Additionally she designed the dress and we cooked a beautiful Persian sharing feast so that people were brought together on the tables.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

After receiving an enquiry, I get in contact with you as soon as possible. Invite you to a tasting in my home or at a tasting event and work with you from there up until the day.

How would you wow the judges on Masterchef?

With the bespoke Canape Dessert 3 Tier Wedding Tower made up of sticky Chocolate Brownies, Lemon Possets, Fruit Meringue mouthfuls, topped with either Profiteroles or Tiramisu.

What is the most innovative dish you have created for a wedding?

Our Persian Sharing Feast, made up of Slow Cooked Lamb with Rose Petals, Ras El Hanout Squash, Carmargue Rice Salad, Cacik, Fresh Tomato Salsa with the Eastern Mess (a middle eastern twist on Eton Mess) for dessert.

What is the food of love?

Our locally sourced beef or lamb as well as the locally sourced oak roasted salmon.

What is your secret ingredient?

Working in my beautiful home in Llanbedr, as well as working seamlessly with my friends, family and colleagues.
