What is your most memorable wedding?
The first wedding I ever styled will always be my most memorable. It was a blank canvas venue - a village hall in Uplyme - and we were hired to create a rustic wedding with a vintage twist for 95 guests. It took us 15 hours to achieve but the look on everyone's faces as they entered the room, and the reaction from the bride and groom made every minute of hard work worthwhile!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Versatile, creative, detailed, co-ordinated and stylish.
What about your business are you most proud of?
My attention to detail is second to none and has earned me 5 star reviews from all my couples.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Delegate where possible!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
At a wedding I styled in August 2017, the bride was given a handmade personalised apron to cover her wedding dress while she ate her meal! I have also seen rubber ducks on tables which the guests wrote messages on to the bride and groom and set them off in a duck race down the stream in the grounds of the venue!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
When I am contacted by a couple, I will ask a few questions about their wedding day via email, and once I have been able to confirm that I am free on their date and can help them, I arrange a consultation with them. These usually take place at their venue or at my home, where they can see my range of wedding decorations for myself. During the consultation I take detailed notes about all the wedding ideas they have and ask questions to expand on those. Once we have all agreed on the decoration plan, I then prepare a bespoke quotation which I email over to the couple within 2 days. If they are happy to book with me, I will then draft an invoice and a contract. Once the signed contract is returned and I have received a deposit, I then confirm when the final payment will be due. I offer all my couples as many consultation as they need during the build up to their wedding day. I offer full telephone and email support. A week before the wedding, I will call my couples to check that everything is ready for the day. If they are using their own decorations, I will request that these are boxed up and clearly labelled, with detailed instructions of where they are to go. After that, I turn up at their venue as early as I can on their big day to ensure that the venue is transformed long before any guests arrive.
What is the best themed wedding you have worked at?
I haven't worked any themed weddings as such but have a Harry Potter themed wedding to look forward to in 2018.
What are the decorative trends with brides currently?
So many brides love the rose gold, blush and cream colour scheme. Geometrics, marble and succulents are very popular. However, so many of my couples love the timeless rustic wedding look, which always looks so beautiful.
What is your signature finishing touch?
Never leaving a venue until every detail is absolutely perfect.
What decoration do you think every wedding needs?
Fairylights!
