What is your most memorable wedding?
Our own! We got married in July 2017. Although it wasn't without it's hiccups, it was everything we wanted it to be - colourful, casual, fun, loud and a true reflection of us as a couple!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Effervescent, passionate, laid back, personal, fun
What about your business are you most proud of?
Our customisable accessories - meaning a bride can find the perfect finishing touches for her big day!
What is your #1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Oh there's so much we can say! We got married just last month and one of the things we got told a lot was to take some time out together during the day - we achieved this by having a sweetheart table, and it really gave us time just to chat, reflect and enjoy each other's company. We're super glad we did it as we hardly saw each other the rest of the evening - we were so busy with our guests!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I love weddings that are about the bride and groom, with their culture or personalities shining through the details of the day. There are so many examples I can give - in particular when my chief bridesmaid got married, the couple incorporated both Scottish and Iranian cultures into the day through their ceremony, flowers, food, favours and reception, including a traditional Iranian knife dance! It worked beautifully, and it was amazing to be part of their wedding which was so personal to them and inspired us to incorporate my culture into our wedding.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
When a bride books an appointment, Jenny calls them to have a pre-appointment consultation. In this call, Jenny will ask lots of questions about the big day, what thoughts you have on your wedding gown, and whether there are any current favourites. This call is also used by Jenny to explain what to expect, and offers brides an opportunity to ask any questions. A week or so before the appointment, Jenny will call again to confirm the appointment get any updates! During the appointment, you will be given an introduction to the wedding dresses, and left to choose the ones to try on. During try on, Jenny will add accessories and ask your opinion on each dress in turn, discounting certain styles and potentially suggesting others until you find the one! Upon order, measurements will be taken and a deposit to secure the style. Typically, wedding dresses take up to 6 months to arrive, but are available in a shorter timeframe for an extra charge. When the dress arrives, Jenny will recommend her local seamstress, but you are under no obligation to use her services.
What do you love most about your job?
Finding out about everyone's weddings! Everyone is so different in their vision for their big days and I love hearing about the cute details which will make it about them.
What is your favourite style of wedding dress?
Oh I love all styles! I am spoilt in the boutique as we have such a range :)
What is the best way to incorporate "Something Blue" into the wedding outfit?
All of our petticoats and So Sassi wedding gowns have a sweet blue ribbon attached - an easy way to get your something blue! As an alternative, we offer hand embroidered vintage hankies which can be sewn in blue, and sewn into the inside of your gown, that counts as your something old too!
What is your favourite wedding dress of all time?
Again, there are just so many iconic wedding dresses it's too difficult too choose - that's not a cop out, its reality!
