Rock and Play was founded as a result of a desire to bring the ethos of high quality home childcare to an event environment. We ensure we provide a warm, caring and stimulating environment where every child feels safe, secure and valued. We are passionate about delivering excellent care, and above all ensuring every child enjoys the best possible time with us! Mobile creches - We create a fun, safe and caring environment, allowing the children to select from an excellent range of toys and activities. We make contact with the parents before the event to learn more about their children. This plays an important part in our choice of toys, resources and activities, which makes for a memorable day. Event nannies - This flexible childcare service is tailored to meet the individual needs of the children and their parents, ensuring that the day is as stress free as possible. A nanny brings along a small collection of toys and activities, which have been selected to meet the ages of the children. Venue evening babysitting - Our babysitting provision can either be booked to follow on from our daytime event childcare, allowing your event to carry on smoothly, or as stand alone service. We care for the children in the comfort of their room at the venue. We are more than happy to carry out the children’s bedtime routine, and tuck them up for the night. Parents can enjoy their evening, knowing that their children are safe and sound with us. We strive to provide a professional reliable service, putting children’s interests first, so parents can kick back and relax!

I have worked with children for well over 20 years. I founded Rock Up and Play in 2013 after attending one too many weddings with my own brood! I am passionate about childcare and have extensive experience of caring for children of all ages, from babies up to teens. As a mother to four children I understand the needs of both children and their parents. My main aim is to provide a caring and stimulating environment where children are safe, respected and treated as individuals.

They engaged with the children brilliantly
I just wanted to send you a quick note to say thank you so much for looking after Max and Harry on Saturday at Lucy's wedding. Max loved it and was quite upset that you weren't all there on Sunday morning! It was so nice that Harry could sleep in a cot for the evening and we didn't have to worry about him. All your staff were brilliant - all very professional and caring. They engaged with the children (and parents!) brilliantly - this is a skill especially when you have never met the kids before! You all listened to what we wanted and carried out our wishes, this put us at ease even more. Thank you so much!

The onsite creche was a child's dream
Rock Up and Play was an invaluable resource for our family during our recent trip to England for my cousin's wedding. The nanny who babysat during the rehearsal dinner was terrific and she also provided extra-hours after the wedding itself. The onsite creche was a child's dream. They were attentive to the children and had many engaging toys for them to play with while we enjoyed ourselves. It provided us such peace of mind to know our children were well-cared for and just steps away during the celebration! I highly recommend Catherine and her team to anyone planning an event or seeking child care.

The children all said it was the best wedding ever
Some of the parents were a little cautious before the day but Catherine contacted them all beforehand so they knew what to expect and tailor made the crèche for the children attending. We have heard nothing but wonderful comments from all the parents – and even those that said that they might not use the facility ended up absolutely loving the fact that the children were so well looked after but not removed from the day, that they could all relax and enjoy themselves with the children part of it but looked after. The children have all said it was the best wedding ever, and we have recommended Rock up and Play to other couples who have now booked too. I found a few suppliers via the Internet but knew as soon as I spoke to Catherine that she would be the right person and company. She was so friendly, relaxed, personal but professional. We definitely made the right decision.

They didn’t want you to leave!
Now we are back from our amazing honeymoon, we would like to thank you so much for making our wedding day so perfect! You were such stars, the children absolutely loved their time with you and enjoyed showing everyone what they had made, they didn’t want you to leave! Catherine judged the day perfectly
We asked Rock up and Play to look after our one year old daughter, Henrietta, during our wedding. From the moment we spoke with Catherine we felt confident that she would be in good hands. Catherine went out of her way to help and as our little girl had been a little clingy leading up to the wedding, at very short notice we asked if Catherine could drop by to meet her the evening before, she agreed without hesitation. As soon as Catherine arrived, Henrietta was immediately at ease, all clinginess disappeared and she just wanted to play with Catherine crawling straight over to her. It made such a difference to our day knowing that Henrietta was happy and relaxed so we didn’t have to keep checking up on her every two minutes. We had four other flowergirls at our wedding (aged 3-11 years) who Catherine also played with and was happy to keep an eye on, despite her primary care being for our daughter. All of the girls loved Catherine and were entertained to such an extent they forgot about the main wedding party. We checked up on them during the day and they were so engrossed with what Catherine was doing, on most of the occasions they didn’t even notice that we were there. Catherine judged the day perfectly, bringing the girls into the wedding for just the right amount of time that meant they were part of our special day, but didn’t get bored. In the evening, Catherine took the girls back to the house and put them to bed ensuring that whilst tired, we were left with five very happy girls. We would have no hesitation in leaving Henrietta with Catherine again - she really was fantastic!"

What is your most memorable wedding?

So many memories, it's hard to pick! Our first wedding was special because it was our first and we had four small babies to cuddle! Along with weddings in some spectacular venues like Berkeley Castle, Hedsor Castle, Four Seasons Hampshire, we have cared for children in marquees, bell tents, boathouses, and even on a farm!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

If children are on your guest list think early on in the planning process how much you would like them involved in the wedding day. It can be a very long day for everyone, especially young children, so it's a good idea to have activities planned which can break the day up for them. Obviously we highly recommend some form of childcare which not only gives parents a chance to relax and chat with other guests, but gives children space and time to be themselves! Even an activity pack during the wedding breakfast can help ease the boredom for children.

What about your business are you most proud of?

A couple contacts me with details about the wedding venue, date, children (number and ages), timings for childcare. I suggest which of our childcare services would be most suitable, and provide them with a quote. If the couple wish to proceed with a booking a deposit secures the date. Before a wedding creche I visit the venue to risk assess the area to be used for the creche, and I liasie with the venue regarding the room set up, timings, etc. I make contact with all the parents to gather information about their children. I'm particularly keen to find out about children's favourite toys and interests so I can ensure we will bring along activities which they will find engaging. The final balance is due four weeks before the wedding and at this time all the arrangements are confirmed. I am always happy to answer any queries from the couple and parents throughout this process.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

We ensure we know enough about the children beforehand so we can provide activities which will keep them happy and engaged. And crafts, our craft tables always steal the show!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

I've seen numerous special touches at weddings but I always look out for the guestbook! The one which really caught my eye was wooden hearts for guests to sign before dropping them into a picture frame.
