Rock and Play was founded as a result of a desire to bring the ethos of high quality home childcare to an event environment. We ensure we provide a warm, caring and stimulating environment where every child feels safe, secure and valued. We are passionate about delivering excellent care, and above all ensuring every child enjoys the best possible time with us! Mobile creches - We create a fun, safe and caring environment, allowing the children to select from an excellent range of toys and activities. We make contact with the parents before the event to learn more about their children. This plays an important part in our choice of toys, resources and activities, which makes for a memorable day. Event nannies - This flexible childcare service is tailored to meet the individual needs of the children and their parents, ensuring that the day is as stress free as possible. A nanny brings along a small collection of toys and activities, which have been selected to meet the ages of the children. Venue evening babysitting - Our babysitting provision can either be booked to follow on from our daytime event childcare, allowing your event to carry on smoothly, or as stand alone service. We care for the children in the comfort of their room at the venue. We are more than happy to carry out the children’s bedtime routine, and tuck them up for the night. Parents can enjoy their evening, knowing that their children are safe and sound with us. We strive to provide a professional reliable service, putting children’s interests first, so parents can kick back and relax!

I have worked with children for well over 20 years. I founded Rock Up and Play in 2013 after attending one too many weddings with my own brood! I am passionate about childcare and have extensive experience of caring for children of all ages, from babies up to teens. As a mother to four children I understand the needs of both children and their parents. My main aim is to provide a caring and stimulating environment where children are safe, respected and treated as individuals.

They had an amazing time
Catherine and her team helped us out at our daughter's wedding. Catherine personally looked after 10 month old Henry - our grandson and son of bride and groom. She was excellent with Henry and he was very comfortable with her. She looked after him fairly much all day from midday to midnight taking away all the stresses from us all. Her team of 2 more overly ladies also proved an activity / crèche for 4 other young children aged from 5 up to 9. It's a long day for young children at weddings and without this they would have been fed up and bored, instead they had an amazing time. I can certainly recommend Catherine and her services. Absolutely excellent.

The parents appreciated the service greatly
Bringing up Rock Up and Play to our wedding was one of the best decisions we made. Catherine not only made all the children feel at ease (including one particularly shy 1-year-old, who took to Catherine almost immediately), but was so much fun that our 4 year old nephew was asking the very next day if he was going to be seeing her again! The parents appreciated the service greatly, and that Catherine was always close-by meant that they could easily drop in and see their children if they wanted to. Your guests - if they’re not familiar with this kind of nanny service - might be a bit apprehensive at first … but we guarantee, they’ll be thanking you for it afterwards. The adults get to enjoy a nice, relaxed wedding ceremony - and the kids have a great time too. Thanks again, Catherine.

You run such a great service
Thank you for everything you did for us and all the children on the day. I imagine it was a little chaotic to say the least but it all seemed to be under control and we had a wonderful stress free day without having to worry if the children were ok and being looked after. You run such a great service and in particular all the work you do up front with the venue and individual parents leading up to the day is fantastic for busy stressed brides to be!

Made the space really inviting, safe and fun
When we were organising our wedding we didn’t want to exclude children from our wedding day, we wanted everyone to enjoy it, so it needed to be fun for friends and family with children and those without. There were 22 children altogether ranging from age 2 to 11 at the wedding (with all the potential to be mayhem…).. It was important for us that they enjoyed the day too and didn’t get bored, as it was going to be a long day. So we asked Rock Up and Play to come along and set up a crèche for a few hours while we (all the adults) sat down for our wedding breakfast (a bit of sanity time too!). The children had a picnic lunch and snacks at the crèche and ate a hot meal later when the crèche had finished. Rock Up and Play were brilliant they set up the crèche in a separate room of the hotel, with a wide variety of toys for all the age groups, (plenty of dinosaurs for our son….) and a few craft tables which were very popular. As soon as the children entered the crèche, there was no looking back, they were off to have fun, and it was great to see them settle so quickly. Catherine and her team had made the space really inviting, safe and fun. All the children had a fantastic time and when the crèche was over they had great fun in showing parents all the amazing things they had made. My husband and I along with our guests had the most amazing day. We were able to relax and enjoy our dinner knowing that the children were happy, safe and being looked after by Catherine and her team. Thank you for providing such a brilliant service you really helped make the day a great success. All the parents commented on how great the crèche was and how much the child/children enjoyed it and really appreciated the wedding being child friendly. I highly recommend Rock Up and Play to anyone planning a wedding or an event. Thank you

On the wedding day we couldn't have asked for more
We used Rock up and Play for our 2 year old and a few others are our wedding and Catherine and her team were amazing from start to finish. We met at the venue a few months before to get to know us and Catherine made contact with the other parents in advance to introduce herself and find out what the children like and don't like. On the wedding day we couldn't have asked for more. The children warmed to Catherine straight away, and loved the toys she brought. Catherine even baby sat until the early hours so we could carry on the party We rated Rock up and Play so highly, we used them again to look after several children for a day when we were staying in the Cotswolds for another wedding. Couldn't ask for any more

I felt completely at ease with your team
I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you (& your team) so much for looking after Scarlett so brilliantly on Saturday. You provided such a professional and caring service, we were able to relax and enjoy the wedding. I don’t take lightly leaving my daughter with new people but I felt completely at ease with your team, Scarlett responded so well to them all and I was very impressed at the patience and dedication shown by all. I know Scarlett had a great time with you all.

What is your most memorable wedding?

So many memories, it's hard to pick! Our first wedding was special because it was our first and we had four small babies to cuddle! Along with weddings in some spectacular venues like Berkeley Castle, Hedsor Castle, Four Seasons Hampshire, we have cared for children in marquees, bell tents, boathouses, and even on a farm!

What about your business are you most proud of?

The amazing feedback we regularly receive from both parents and children. And hugely proud of my team of super childcarers!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

If children are on your guest list think early on in the planning process how much you would like them involved in the wedding day. It can be a very long day for everyone, especially young children, so it's a good idea to have activities planned which can break the day up for them. Obviously we highly recommend some form of childcare which not only gives parents a chance to relax and chat with other guests, but gives children space and time to be themselves! Even an activity pack during the wedding breakfast can help ease the boredom for children.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

I've seen numerous special touches at weddings but I always look out for the guestbook! The one which really caught my eye was wooden hearts for guests to sign before dropping them into a picture frame.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

A couple contacts me with details about the wedding venue, date, children (number and ages), timings for childcare. I suggest which of our childcare services would be most suitable, and provide them with a quote. If the couple wish to proceed with a booking a deposit secures the date. Before a wedding creche I visit the venue to risk assess the area to be used for the creche, and I liasie with the venue regarding the room set up, timings, etc. I make contact with all the parents to gather information about their children. I'm particularly keen to find out about children's favourite toys and interests so I can ensure we will bring along activities which they will find engaging. The final balance is due four weeks before the wedding and at this time all the arrangements are confirmed. I am always happy to answer any queries from the couple and parents throughout this process.

What is your No. 1 top tip for keeping a crowd entertained?

We ensure we know enough about the children beforehand so we can provide activities which will keep them happy and engaged. And crafts, our craft tables always steal the show!
