What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
It's your wedding - no-one else's - so do it your way! Enjoy the planning process, but don't get caught up in all the minutiae and it sounds obvious, but remember to relax and enjoy your big day. It will pass so quickly, so it's important to take a moment by yourselves, away from your guests, to really appreciate the magic of the day.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
We like to initially meet you at your venue if possible as this allows us to get to know each other and allows you to see if we are a match for what you have in mind. It also enables us to see what designs and colour schemes will work best in the setting and to suggest ideas you may not have thought of. We'll discuss your ideas for your wedding flowers (from ceremony and reception flowers to flowers for the bridal party) and then we'll prepare a quotation based on your budget. In the build up to the big day we'll prepare a sample table arrangement and bridal bouquet if you wish to ensure you're 100% happy and then on the day itself you can leave everything to us and just enjoy yourselves.
What is the most interesting thing you have put in a bouquet?
A beautiful nautilus shell. It formed the basis of the bouquet and the bride carried it in the palm of her hand, with lots of orchids, trailing jasmine and foliage flowing from it. Gorgeous!
Is there a flower that has specific symbolism that you would recommend for couples?
Always go with what you love - don't be swayed by fashion. Lily-of-the-valley, roses, gardenias, stephanotis and paeonies are frequently used in bridal bouquets because of their symbolic meanings, but perhaps you don't like roses, or you're getting married at a time of year when a particular flower isn't in season.
What is the most romantic flower and why?
Every flower means different things to different people - again, go with what you love and trust your heart!
What should you do with the flowers after the wedding?
Continue to enjoy them for as long as you can! Certain bouquet styles can be preserved and your guests will love to have a special memento of your day, so let them take a tablecentre or arrangement home with them.
