Full Description
At Tales From Apple Treehouse we have two main passions. Beautiful floral design and ensuring we tread as lightly on our planet as we can. We offer a bespoke service tailored to your needs from free consultations, Pinterest board sharing, fantastic design, concept and planning to professional and knowledgable advice on all your wedding flower needs. Whether you know exactly what you want, in which case we can follow your brief and recreate your floral dreams, or you have no clue where to start then we can guide you through the options, getting to know you to understand your style to create something that reflects you and gives you lasting happy memories of your special day. With the aim of leaving as small a foot print as possible we use our own grown flowers wherever possible that are picked from our cutting beds right next to our design studio. We never use floral foam and try to minimise the use of unnecessary plastics. All floral mechanics are reused where possible and everything that can be is composted. We like to use colour and texture to create something truly beautiful and often use dried or foraged items to add interest to designs. Some designs for your wedding may be able to be dried after the wedding for you to keep for years to come. Please discuss this at your consultations. As well as the bespoke wedding service we also offer a more budget and ultimate eco friendly option which is purely garden grown flowers from our cutting beds. This is for small weddings where only a bouquet (or 2), buttonholes and table centres are required. You would be required to collect the flowers from us and return any vases after the wedding. The flowers offered are only what's in season at the time and what's in abundance. We can guarantee they will be beautiful but specifying colour can be difficult so if you're willing to trust us to come up with something relaxed and gorgeous then we know you'll love this as an option.

What is your most memorable wedding?

In the very early days I had to flower 5 dogs for their owners wedding. They wore fresh flowers around their collars. It wasn't the biggest or most beautiful wedding I've ever done but definitely one of the most fun and definitely cutest.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Research! From Pinterest to Instagram there is a wealth of information out there for you and so many incredible ideas. You can do almost anything these days for your wedding. What I would most recommend is that you make sure that your ideas reflect you as a couple and what you love. It is after all a celebration of you become legally bound together. It only happens once so create something, whether big and flamboyant or small and intimate, that reflects your love for each other and the things you enjoy doing.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Include memory flowers for loved ones lost that can't attend the wedding. For example a grandparents favourite flower or a scent that reminds you of that person like lavender or jasmine.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

It starts with either a telephone or face to face consultation to discuss initial ideas you may have. From this we will create a brief to work to. We will put together a detailed costing sheet for you for each element of your wedding. no cost will be hidden and everything explained so you are in no doubt about what you'll be paying for. Once the brief and cost is agreed you will be required to pay a deposit to secure the date. One month before the wedding we will have a further meeting to discuss any last minute changes or details needed. We will deliver and set up your wedding flowers on the day and return to take down and clear away the following day if needed.

What is the most interesting thing you have put in a bouquet?

Anything from berries and figs to silk butterflies, gem stones, feathers and even pom poms.

Is there a flower that has specific symbolism that you would recommend for couples?

If you are lucky enough to get married in Peony season then these are a wonderful flower to include. They symbolise romance, prosperity, a happy marriage and compassion.

What is the most romantic flower and why?

I would say the scented rose. The rose is a favourite with brides and it is always lovely to have a scent to add to your wedding day as it evokes lasting memories. The rose has so many different meanings depending on the colour you chose so there is definitely something for everyone.

What should you do with the flowers after the wedding?

You can either take them home to enjoy or share with family and friends. A lot of the flowers I use can be dried, I offer an additional service where I pick your bouquet up the next day and disassemble it for drying then once dried put it back together and return it to you (this will only work with certain flowers so may not be possible for all bouquets). You could also have it pressed and framed or preserved. If you don't wish to keep the flowers I can take them away for you and either donate them to a local charity or they can be composted.
