FAQ
(10)
What is your most memorable wedding?
The one I think of straight away was a village wedding in Kingston which had the best atmosphere...flowers in wellies in the church, the local pub pitched a marquee and everybody sat on hay bales eating food from wheelbarrows! It was laid back, happy and made me want to gatecrash!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Elegant, eclectic, decadent, timeless and classic!
What about your business are you most proud of?
I am proud of my amazing customer comments and how many loyal customers still order 8 years' on! I also love that customers stay in touch and I get to see each couple go from singles, to married, to parents!
What is your #1 wedding planning tip for couples?
It's a controversial one, but once you've pucked THAT dress/bouquet/cake etc, STOP LOOKING! I've met so many brides who carry on looking through Pinterest after they've made a decision and it just seems to confuse them more!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I recently completed a wedding in which the bride included beautiful silver butterfly charms with the names of those who were no longer with the family. They were beautiful and added something special to the bouquet.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Lots of couples contact me online to begin with, as sometimes they are planning from afar! I will chat with each couple to find out what their style is, their colour theme and what they are looking for. I then squirrel away and design a look book and quote based on that information. This can be changed as many times as needed until it's absolutely right! On the day, I hand deliver all of the flowers to the bride's location, and set up the ceremony and reception too! Everything is done for you, so you can relax and enjoy your day.
What is the most interesting thing you have put in a bouquet?
I once got asked for flowering artichoke, which I could not get for love nor money and ended up ringing round farms and fruiterers to find it! I got it in the end!
Is there a flower that has specific symbolism that you would recommend for brides?
Different flowers have symbolism for different people. For me, lily of the valley was a must have as it reminded me of my nan. I am working with a Japanese groom at the moment for whom chrysanthemums are a definite no-no for his wedding as they are seen as funeral flowers. I think flowers should symbolise who or what is important to you in your life.
What is the most romantic flower and why?
Gotta be a rose for me, always has, always will be. Timeless, beautiful shape, stunning fragrance and there's been so much investment in their cultivation that the colours you can now get are out of this world!
What should you do with the flowers after the wedding?
Get them preserved if budget allows! I offer a preservation service in a frame or cloche jar. Some brides decide to give their flowers as a gift, or perhaps lay them at the resting place of loved ones who couldn't be there on their special day.
