YurtsUp Full Description
Yurts create a wonderful social environment which will ensure your guests are not only relaxed but wowed. The round structure, and intricate wooden craftsmanship that goes into constructing these tents, gives a soft and natural "feel" to any event. We hire out traditional Mongolian and Kazak style yurts. Our traditional yurts (5.8m & 6.6m) are well suited to creating an intimate and luxurious space. Both yurt sizes work well as chill-out spaces, which we fill with our collection of sumptuous furnishings; usually this includes plenty of floor cushions, atmospheric lighting and low tables. Full furnished package costs are £900 + £1150 respectively (excl. delivery, NOT subject to VAT). We have provided these chill-out yurts as additional spaces to large parties, next to bigger structures, and we know they end up being the warmest place for guests to relax, chat and enjoy the evening and early morning hours. The 5.8m yurt has been hired as a luxurious bridal suite on a number of occasions. We provide a fully furnished package that includes a fully dressed double bed, bedside tables with lamps, chest of drawers, dressing table, chair, rugs and floor cushions. The yurt is also tastefully decorated with warm glow lighting and linings. This setup costs in the region of £1000 (ex. delivery). We have provided a bar setup in our Mongolian (6.6m) and Kazak (8m) yurts. For larger weddings the 8m Kazak is preferred; the larger yurt has taller sides than our Mongolian yurts and thus provides an excellent mingling and chill-out space. We also hire out a unique round bar which stands very well in this yurt. Like our other yurts, we offer fully furnished packages; costs are in the region of £1250 + £1425 respectively. Both these larger yurts have been used for sit down meals. The 6.6m yurt can seat 30, and the larger yurt 50, comfortably. Essentially, all three yurts make beautiful and versatile spaces and we can decorate/furnish them to suit preferences.

Frequently Asked Questions
(10)

What is your most memorable wedding?

Helping Will and Sophie Phillimore put a wedding together at Will's parent's farm. We cleared out an old barn which we decorated, furnished and utilised as a bar space, the 8m yurt was used as a dining and late night dancing space, and our marquee used for the ceremony. A wonderful country feel.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Creative. Achievable. Realistic. Helpful. Different.

What about your business are you most proud of?

Creating a space that people thank us for and seeing our client's faces when we have finished.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Ask for advice and try not to fret.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Picnic hampers on tables. It ran with the Kentish farm and countryside theme, as well as the more informal approach to the wedding.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Talk, collate thoughts and recommendations and send an email with estimates and scale plans, conduct a site visit or meet couple if necessary depending on the depth of our involvement, recommend 3rd parties for catering, bar staff, toilet hire etc, confirm the client's requirements and the services they wish us to provide; if the clients are happy we then proceed with booking. Take a deposit. Provide our services on time, and with a good level of communication.

How do you create an ambiance in a marquee?

Our yurts create an ambience themselves, but along with the variety of furnishings we provide and the guests filling the structures, the atmosphere seems to take care of itself.

Where is the most exciting place that you have put a marquee?

We have set our yurts up on top of a 5 storey building in London, overlooking Liverpool street. We have also set our 8m yurt up in a marquee and indoors!

What is your record time for putting up your marquee?

The smallest yurt; 3.5hrs unfurnished. 5.5hrs furnished.

What is your favourite design of marquee and why?

Yurts, because they are predominantly wood and canvas. They don't clunk and clink about when you set them up which is reflective of their calming nature. The Mongolian designed yurts require no pegs because they are aerodynamically sound and solid structures, so can even be set up on hard-standing. They are just sociable round spaces and people love them.
