Richard Sully - Professional Wedding Pianist Full Description
Rich Sully has played at around two thousand weddings and events during his career and is considered on e of the UKs most prolific and established pianists. Based in Berkshire he covers most of the southern half of England and Wales. Formerly resident at London's Savoy Hotel he mostly works as a freelance weddings and events pianist both in the UK and destination weddings abroad. He offers romantic piano music perfectly suited to be played during your wedding ceremony, drinks reception or wedding breakfast. He can be booked for either a three or four hour performance time to suit the requirement of the day. His repertoire is vast and he draws from a knowledge of approaching a thousand songs from memory. This makes him the ideal accompaniment to your big day as he's able to play just about anything you ask for, from the main body of light jazz and popular music to film themes, musicals and a selection of classical themes for your ceremony. Requests are always welcome and this makes for a great atmosphere and talking point among wedding guests. He is fully self contained with regard to the latest 'state of the art' Roland RD800 portable digital piano and PA system allowing him to work just about anywhere whether inside or out, as long as there's a power supply available. Equally, he's always happy to play the venue's piano if there is one and as long as it's in tune! Frequently Asked Questions
(9)

What is your most memorable wedding?

Probably the wedding of George and Amal Clooney in 2014. I'm not often asked to provide my passport to get in! Played for five hours playing requests and so on, a great night and one which the happy couple were very happy with.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Romantic, relaxing, atmospheric, engaging, subtle

What about your business are you most proud of?

Reliability every time, it's the one thing you have to put at the top of the list when it comes to weddings.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Consider having live music as part of your wedding day! Live music will bring your big day to life if you book the right musician/s. It might be the one day in your life when a musician/musicians plays just for you!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Most bookings arrive on my desk via the internet these days. After that it's generally a flurry of e-mails or sometimes a phone discussion leading to me sending them a confirmation contract to reaffirm all timing details etc. I generally ask for couples to decide on ceremony music about a month before their wedding day and once again it's mostly done by e-mail.

What makes a romantic first dance?

Difficult to answer since we all have our own idea of 'romantic'. But just for the record let's go with 'Have I Told You Lately' by Van Morrison!

What is your number one floor-filler?

Being a pianist rather than a disco that's a difficult one, let's say Billy Joel's 'Piano Man' would be a very universally loved song almost anywhere in the world.

Which band from the past would you most like to have been part of?

Without doubt, The Beatles!

What is the soundtrack to your life?

'Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence' by Sakamoto. I have recorded my own version of it on my website!
