A Touch of Class was formed in 1997, and since then we have provided high quality music for well over 600 weddings, as well as many other special occasions, corporate events, informal concerts and much else besides. We are based in Derbyshire, but we are happy to travel; please see our list of venues.
We arrive at the venue an hour before the ceremony starts, and we are ready to play 20-30 minutes before that time. We are used to liaising with the registrar or priest over the best place to play, and exactly when to start and stop the music.
Then, while the wedding guests are taking their places, we generally play light classical music, e.g. Handel’s Largo or a divertimento by Mozart. This sets the right atmosphere for the ceremony, and may serve to calm the nervous groom.
For the arrival of the bride, a popular choice is the stately Canon in D by Pachelbel. Then there’s the traditional Here Comes The Bride, but there may well be particular music which couples wish to have at this special moment. A Touch of Class will provide a professional arrangement of your own favourite if it is suitable.
In a church service we will gladly play for the hymns if you wish. The signing of the register is another moment for a special piece, which may be among the hundreds in our repertoire. Again, we are glad to give any help and advice that may be needed.
Finally the exit of the bridal party: we feel that it’s important here to have music that is immediately bright and joyful in character. The traditional Wedding March by Mendelssohn suits admirably, but there are several other equally effective tunes such as the Trumpet Tune by Purcell.
