- Blue Topaz provides a unique and memorable musical experience for your wedding. Our feature groups, the Blue Topaz String Trio and Quintet, are brilliantly versatile by inclusion of the double bass and slap bass technique. Elegant and sophisticated we are available to perform on both traditional and electric instruments. We can be booked to play during your wedding ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast or even a special performance for your guests. We also have our own sound system and string specialist sound engineer enabling us to amplify our music to the desired level for any party or room size. Trained at London’s finest music conservatories including the Royal Academy of Music, we fuse classical instruments with pop and jazz styles. Blue Topaz performs music from a diverse and extensive bespoke repertoire ranging from Bach to the Black Eyed Peas. We arrange all repertoire ourselves creating original versions of well known music. This also means we can arrange any piece on request no matter how unusual! The ladies of Blue Topaz have performed worldwide with artists including Adele, Beyonce, Simply Red, Lana Del Rey, Rod Stewart, Take That, Emelie Sande, Ne-Yo, Pavarotti and Nigel Kennedy and on TV shows including The Brit Awards, Graham Norton, Live from Abbey Road, Children In Need and Jonathan Ross. Clients have included Her Majesty The Queen, The Jamie Oliver Foundation, Microsoft, the Football Association and The Duchess of Cambridge at venues such as the legendary jazz club Ronnie Scotts, Wembley Stadium, The National Theatre, Kensington Palace and for some of London’s finest hotels including Claridge’s, The Dorchester, the Mandarin Oriental and The Grosvenor House. We are happy to travel anywhere in the UK and abroad. We also offer a Premium Wedding Service for those clients who seek a more personal touch. Please ask for more details.

What is your most memorable wedding?
Ah there have been so many! Perhaps the wedding when the bride received a surprise Indian ceremony from a relative of mature years during her chosen Western ceremony and the look on her face could be one of the most memorable!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
sophisticated, bespoke, professional, polished, beautiful
What about your business are you most proud of?
Our bespoke and unique arrangements of a wide range of musical styles that include the double bass!
What is your #1 wedding planning tip for couples?
choose the right suppliers then trust them to do their job and make your life easier!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
There was a bride and groom who personally decorated stones as place names for every guest at their wedding - what also made this truly stunning is that the wedding took place on the beach of a Greek Island - yes, we travel far sometimes!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
You have decided to book us. Fantastic news! We then draw up a contract to ensure we are providing exactly what you would like, a deposit is taken and we can then concentrate on the interesting bit: The Music! We can advise with this if you are unsure or you can tell us your favourite numbers for inclusion. Don't forget we can also arrange favourite pieces of music if they are not on the list. Your balance payment is normally taken one month before the wedding date.
What makes a romantic first dance?
Blue Topaz love a choreographed first dance, especially if this is not something the couple would normally do and therefore it acts as surprise entertainment for their guests! However the most romantic are often when the song holds an important meaning for the couple and they feel at ease.
What is your number one floor-filler?
This is tricky as we have many! But perhaps Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns n' Roses
Which band from the past would you most like to have been part of?
Impossible to name one but the strings on tracks such as Rose Royce's 'Carwash' would have been fab to play for!
What is the soundtrack to your life?
Abba's 'Thank you for the Music' :-)
