Fiona Hosford Full Description
Fiona has also studied the piano, violin and singing but when she began the Harp at age 6 it soon became apparent that the other instruments were secondary to her interest in the Harp. She has gained extensive experience performing throughout the UK and abroad. With her varied repertoire she has delighted a wide range of clients with her soothing and uplifting music and her statuesque gold harp has added an air of refinement and relaxation. Often described as the most friendly, down-to-earth Harpist about, with a strong sense of humour and a sympathetic musical ear, Fiona ensures that your musical tastes are adhered to and is flexible and thoughtful in her approach. Her professionalism is evident throughout her attitude to playing and providing a first class service for each occasion and her vast amount of knowledge within the Wedding Industry (nearly 20years!) means that she's experienced when dealing with clients requests and queries. Fiona's repertoire is forever growing - Debussy, Pachelbel, Grieg and Faure sit alongside Guns n Roses, Massive Attack, Coldplay, Adele and other modern pieces through to the more unusal requests: Pokémon, The A Team or Match of the Day ...nothing surprises her anymore! :D Her recorded music is on Spotify and her Website and she always tries to respond to enquiries within a 24-48hr period.

Absolutely incredible
Fiona was incredible from start to finish. She is an extremely talented harpist but also an incredibly lovely person who enjoyed talking to a lot of guests about the musical instrument. Everyone loved her playing and it added such a nice calm vibe to the wedding. I honestly couldn't recommend her more.

Hi Fiona, Thank you so much for playing at our ceremony and during our wedding breakfast on Saturday. Both we, and our guests thought you were amazing and so talented. You created the perfect atmosphere for us, and we are so grateful to you! The CD you left us was a lovely surprise too and very thoughtful!

Rainy thanks!
Hi Fiona How are you? I am so sorry I haven't been in touch sooner... we went straight on honeymoon after the wedding and now just catching up with everything. I just wanted to say a huge thank you for being totally awesome and making the church service even more magical with your beautiful music. All our guest loved you and thought how beautiful it was to walk in out of the rain into a candlelit church with your beautiful music playing. It was so lovely to have you be a part of our wedding day and so grateful to you. We had the best day and loved every minute of it! 💗 Thank you so so much for everything. Lots of love Amy & Sam (Mr & Mrs Greenman) Xxx

Nerves...
Hi Fiona We just wanted to contact you to say thank you for playing at our wedding last week. Many of our guests mentioned how much they enjoyed the music 😃 it's a shame we didn't get to hear all of it as we were busy with the photographer and all sorts of other things! We also wanted to mention the quick chat you had (with David) before the ceremony- it helped to calm his nerves! Thanks again Laura & David

We were lucky to be at the table closest to you...
I should like you to know how much we appreciated your playing on Saturday at The Chalk Farm Hotel. We were lucky to be at the table nearest to you and my wife and I – and, indeed, the other diners at our table, enjoyed the music hugely. The fact that we were talking a lot does not in the slightest mean that we were unaware of the music, but you went before one could properly thank you. It must be odd to be seemingly ignored when you are playing so beautifully. Rest assured, there were many compliments made in your absence. Thank you again for helping to make the afternoon so memorable for us all.

Frequently Asked Questions
(10)

What is your most memorable wedding?

Difficult to answer as I must have played at over 2,000 weddings! I've had a Pokémon wedding, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and many other styles, a few well-known celebrity weddings too.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Fun, Professional, Modern, HardWorking, Creative

What about your business are you most proud of?

How I've been self-employed as a Harpist for nearly 20years, worked and lived in a huge variety of places/countries and 99% of the work I've found myself! :D

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Trust your gut instinct - don't be told what to have for your wedding by others... and remember - you won't be able to please everyone...

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Hand sewn place cards by the Groom's Mum.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

After the initial enquiry has been made, I email all of my details to the proposed client. Once a booking fee is made to secure the date, I invite the couple to discuss music further and to see if the couple have any other questions they'd like to ask of me. About 1 month before the wedding date itself, I contact the couple, just to 'touch base' and to go through any final musical details that need tweaking.

What makes a romantic first dance?

Just enjoying the moment together and not making it a feature length choreographed film.

What is your number one floor-filler?

Park Life, Sam Brown's Sex Machine!

Which band from the past would you most like to have been part of?

Pet Shop Boys, Fleetwood Mac, Queen

What is the soundtrack to your life?

West End Girls and Park Life (Blur)
