Full Description
Freedom Discos, Sound and Lighting was established in 2002, initially as a hobby, till 2009 when I then went self employed. Growing up around music, cabaret and theatre shows, learning from family in the business, and previously working on holiday parks, hotels, and my ongoing work with Freedom Discos Sound and Lighting, I have gained many years experience in the Disco, Entertainment and Theatre business. As well as being a DJ, I also work as a Stage Manager, Compere, Entertainer and Sound and Lighting Technician, often multi tasking and having to do most of these jobs all at once. I have even turned my hand to a spot of acting, by appearing in Pantomime. I have had the honour of performing in the presence of HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh whilst attending a family fun day at Catterick Garrison. I have also had the privilege of working with a variety of Shows and Performers, including: Comedians: Cannon and Ball Jason Manford Phil Jupitus Chris Ramsey Omid Djalili Patrick Monahan World of Music: Suggs (Madness Frontman) Joe McElderry (X-Factor Winner 2009) Pete Waterman (Music Producer) An Evening With: Simon Callow (Actor) Eric Knowles (Antiques Expert) Pete Firman (Magician) Michael Portillo (Ex MP) Professor Robert Winston David Harper (Antiques Expert) Ann Widdecombe (Ex MP) Jimmy White (Snooker Player) Shows: Jack and The Beanstalk (Starring CBBC's Patrick Lynch) Black is the Color of My Voice (Starring Apphia Campbell) Tiddler and Other Terrific Tales (Freckle Productions) Spotlight on Variety (Starring Comedy Vocalist Brenda Collins) Tributes: World Famous Elvis Tribute (Chris Connor) Cilla and The Shades of The 60's (Red Entertainment) Black Magic - The Little Mix Show (Red Entertainment) Dusty and The Shades of The 60's (Red Entertainment) Elvis tribute (JD King) ABBA Tribute - Swede Dreamz

Darren was amazing for our wedding!
Darren was amazing for our wedding! No request was too much for him! We also have a young cousin who wants to be a DJ and Darren let him have a look around and press play! Very accommodating and such a nice guy! The quality of the sound and other equipment was fantastic! Very highly recommend!

Absolutely brilliant DJ
Absolutely brilliant dj, such a lovely man, we couldn’t recommend enough, perfect music, dealt with requests of the kids, fitted in with our white theme on the stage, the guests danced the night away & we had the most perfect day. Thankyou so much

FAQ
(8)

What is your most memorable wedding?

A Theatrical themed wedding. The bride was a dancer and wanted the stage area all lit appropriately to look theatrical aswell as to work well for disco. I was over whelmed with the praise I got and I was as chuffed as the couple with the end result.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Fun, Entertaining, Professional, Friendly, Enthusiastic

What about your business are you most proud of?

Given my knowledge and experience of working so many weddings in a variety of venues. I pride myself on flexibility to adapt to the needs of the Bride and Groom. I've come along way since the early days of having basic equipment and small music collection, I now have a much better array of equipment and vast selection of music, I feel really confident I am able to work well with the Bride and Groom to achieve their desired goal to having a great time.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Go with what you want, it's your day, it happens once, enjoy it, ensure you're not influenced and forced into things you don't want.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Creating a great time for everyone. Whilst I ensure you, as the Bride and Groom feel important, and rightly so, I also make everyone feel special by having fun and creating a great atmosphere.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

I go over all details from the 1st dance, cutting of cake and speeches, as well as working on timings for the whole day regards setting up, start and finish times, should you have other entertainment I'll coordinate timings with them, based on arrangements from the Bride and Groom, so the happy couple can relax, knowing all the entertainment is in hand.

What makes a romantic first dance?

Something that means something to the couple, it doesn't have to be a slow song either, I've played some upbeat songs too.

What is your number one floor-filler?

So many to choose, depends on the tastes of the guests.
