Full Description
LeFunk! is a highly acclaimed classic dancefloor covers band based in Manchester. If you are looking to bring a fun, party atmosphere to an event, be it a wedding, birthday, festival or conference, then LeFunk! could be the perfect choice. - - - - - The band is available in three formats, the 5 piece, 4 piece or a compact trio, making LeFunk! the perfect choice for venue sizes ranging from the corner of a bar to large hotels and concert halls! We can also provide additional live classical piano or solo vocal performances as background music during the earlier phases of an event, and an acoustic duo option. - - - - - The band normally provides a one stop - live band, recorded music and PA solution for your entire event, with DJ service, lighting and a radio microphone connected to the PA for you to make speeches and announcements. Once booked we'll do our best to build your ideal playlists in advance, but with immediate access to thousands of hits from the last 6 decades, we can also satisfy the vast majority of music requests on the day. - - - - - If you have a special song that you'd like to be played live but isn't in the band's repertoire the we will learn and play an additional song of your choice. This could for instance be a ballad for the ‘first dance’ at a wedding, or just another dance floor classic. - - - - - For additional peace of mind, we have deputy musicians who rehearse with the band and can usually cover for last minute emergencies and have Public Liability Insurance of up to £10million. Many venues are now insisting that the latter is provided. - - - - - LeFunk! will work with you to ensure we fit in to, rather than dictate, the flow of your event. Set lengths can be adjusted to fit in with auctions, raffle results and speeches. Clothing can be funky or formal. Arrival and set up times can usually be arranged to minimise disruption to guests.

You and the band were fantastic
Thank you so much for last night you and the band were fantastic. Everyone commented how good you were. That includes friends who also play in a band. One is even rounding people up to go and see you at Brooklands Tap next week.

FAQ

What is your most memorable wedding?

We had the honour of playing at Michael Owen's Stables in Cheshire (the wedding of one of his relatives). A stunning location where we provided acoustic guitar during the ceremony (to accompany the singing of one of the bridesmaids), classical guitar during the welcome drinks and the four piece band in the evening in an enormous tipi. A Fabulous day!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Lively Funky Fun Soulful Interactive

What about your business are you most proud of?

So many things - from the cards and flowers we receive from delighted previous clients to just looking around us on stage, seeing so many people having a great time together on the dancefloor, and being a part of a great combination of talented musicians all coming together to create the fantastic experience that only live music can produce

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Plan and book EVERYTHING! at least a year in advance. Don't be forced to book second choice venues, entertainers etc. It's amazing how popular specific dates of the year are - get in first!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

A first dance that was a re-enactment of the twist scene in Pulp Fiction - complete with projected showing of the original film scene behind them!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

It's usually (but not quite always) the bride who contacts us and who we then liaise with to finalise details. We first ask for an enquiry (via our bookings page), then we will liaise via email or phone to agree a price and the services provided. We then send out a booking contract and ask for a 20% deposit to secure our services. At random points prior to the wedding day the couple will contact us to let us know any special recorded music they want in the DJ service and other details. We also make sure we know what the first dance choice is by two months prior to the day. Finally we renew contact in the week leading up to the day to firm up on all the final timings. Balance is due on the day itself or any time before.

What makes a romantic first dance?

Just two people in love surrounded by all their friends and family. It can be fun or romantic - we've seen plenty of both - In particular a mad couple of Man City fans choosing Blue Moon as a surprise (most of the guests were Man City fans too so they all joined in laughing), or a couple who hated the idea of having to do a first dance so started with Everything I Do by Bryan Adams but after 10 seconds asked us to produce a record scratching noise and go in to a Disco Classic with all the guests beckoned on to join them.

What is your number one floor-filler?

We can't tell you - it's our secret weapon and has everyone up at the end of every wedding and singing the tune afterwards. Apart from that we'd say Dancing Queen by Abba is probably the next, but the dancefloor tends to be full most of the night so it's hard to tell!

Which band from the past would you most like to have been part of?

Chic

What is the soundtrack to your life?

Just one Soundtrack? Ok, probably some amalgum of Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire, Marvyn Gaye, Diana Ross, Bruno Mars and the Beatles. Actually that would probably sound dreadful!
