Wraggle Taggle Full Description
One of the most popular, versatile, successful and affordable traditional ceilidh bands based in London, Wraggle Taggle Ceilidh Band perform live Irish, Scottish, English and American music, dance and songs throughout South East England. Truly traditional music, anything from a duo to a six-piece amplified or acoustic, with or without a caller. Please visit our website at https://www.wraggletaggle.com/ for more information. We are flexible enough as regards personnel, instrumentation and musical style to be able to tailor a band to your specific requirements, and go out as anything from a duo to a six-piece, amplified or acoustic, with or without a caller. All bands are punctual, smart and sober, but still good fun! Award winning musicians Carlene Anglim (fiddle), Eugene Teevan (accordion), and Mick O'Connor (tenor banjo) are joined by Mick Bailey (guitar/vocals) to form the "core" of the band. Other instruments such as concertina, accordion, flute, tin-whistle, Scottish or Irish bagpipes, bodhran (Irish drum) or traditional dancers are also available by arrangement (subject to availability & musical considerations). Our most common format for a ceilidh consists of four musicians plus a caller who will teach the dances from scratch - no experience needed! A ceilidh is something really different and ideal for a successful party, as it is a fun way to get families, friends and colleagues to mix and meet and because all age groups become involved. The faster dances are an energetic work out, and we also play in a more relaxed romantic mood. Wraggle Taggle play traditional Irish, Scottish, English and American songs and tunes with innovation, flair and vitality.

What an amazing night
"What an amazing night. Wraggle Taggle arrived promptly, set up quickly and gave us 3 hours of pleasure. (7th December 2019 Saturday The Railway, 2 Greyhound Ln, Streatham, London, SW16 5SD) They got people dancing and smiling and singing. Got asked numerous times where I managed to get such a great band from. Everyone enjoyed them. Played a mix of tunes which went down really well and were open to requests. Thanks for playing Danny Boy at the end and the 2 renditions of the Fields of Athenry. Highly recommend this band for a great night's entertainment. Thank you so much" Anna Meyer 10th December 2019

High praise indeed!
"Mick, Just a quick note to say a huge thank you for playing at my party on Friday (29th November 2019 Friday Walthamstow Trades Hall, Tower Hamlets Road, Walthamstow, London, E17 4RQ) everyone had a great evening and you and your band made a major contribution to that - particular thanks to the caller who was fantastic and very patient with us all. Perhaps the best word of praise came from an Irish friend, who sat next to me after you had started playing and said, "These guys seem to know what they are doing." - believe me, coming from him that is high praise indeed! So, please pass on the thanks of everyone there to your band" Alex Kenny 1st December 2019

So incredibly special!
Hi Mick and Carlene, Just to say a huge thank you to you both for making my late Husband Andrew's Wake so incredibly special! (16th November 2018 Friday The Woolpack, 26 High Street, Tenterden, Kent, TN30 6AP) Everyone commented on Carlene's beautiful playing, which was absolutely spot on, unobtrusive and lifted the mood. I hope Carlene managed to get some food - I ordered gluten-free sandwiches but didn't manage to get very far into the pub to either see the food or to come and say hello..! I know Andrew was very much with us on that Friday and will have loved every single moment! It was everything I hoped it would be plus much more - a true celebration of his life. Thank you so much again! With very kindest regards Krystyna O'Brien 28th November 2018

What makes a romantic first dance?

There is a tradition that the happy couple start the dancing with a slow romantic dance. It is a photo opportunity that could result in a treasured momento and we have some beautiful suitable pieces to play. We will call other couples up to join you reasonably soon. Some couples ask for a favourite romantic track to be played on CD for their first dance. Other newlyweds do without the first dance and go straight in to the ceilidh. We can start with a ceilidh dance featuring the two of you or one that doesn't do so .
