Reel Life Photos Full Description
We love out job so work extremely hard to try and make you happy. I don't think anything would faze me, so even if you feel like being a bridezilla, we'll do our best to make you feel better! Just tried to count how many countries we've photographed or videoed weddings in and ran out of fingers! Here goes... The Ice Hotel in Sweden (twice), Norway, Iceland, Australia (3 times), The Gambia, West Africa, (6 times), Jordan, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, France (twice), Cyprus (twice), Cuba, The Seychelles, Southern Ireland ( three times), Tenerife, and I've probably missed a few out! So whatever kind of wedding you are having - from a humble register office wedding with a party in your back garden , to the most elegant of country house, hotels, castles, winter weddings, rainy day weddings, outdoor weddings, cultural weddings, weddings abroad, beach weddings, scorchingly hot sunny weddings, snowy weddings, foggy weddings, weddings on top of a mountain, in the woods in the middle of winter, traditional weddings, Asian weddings, African weddings, Greek weddings, small weddings with just a bride and a groom, huge weddings with 2,000 guests, cultural weddings and interracial weddings - we are happy to share your day!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is your most memorable wedding?

One on top of a mountain in Iceland for a Canadian couple - with just a bride and a groom! I even signed the register as a witness!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Happy, energetic, personal, natural, artistic

What about your business are you most proud of?

Making people happy.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Do your research. Always check what you can find out about your potential wedding suppliers - on several pages of Google , rather than just the first - to see what is being said about them, to avoid potential disappointment.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

One bride was a school teacher: she got all her pupils to help create little cards with a photo inside of each and every wedding guest. and for favours she bought each and every wedding guest an antique cup form several different charity shops, placing a chocolate inside.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

I like to at least speak to the bride or groom on the phone before they book, and usually have several messages/conversations via Facebook, WhatApp, Text, or email as well etc before we even get to that stage - so we can feel comfortable together. I then request a booking fee of just £50 to confirm their date, with nothing more due till 2 weeks before their wedding when we ask for an advance payment of £500. I call the couple a week before their wedding to check details of their plans for the day, and to find out who is important to them so I know the "family tree" of those attending. No need for shot lists, after this chat , as I have it all in my head after so many years as a wedding photographer and literally hundreds of weddings photographed! After the wedding, I try and get a few pics up on Reel Life Photos Facebook page - unless they prefer to keep their wedding private - so everyone can get to see at least some very quickly, with more pictures added as I prepare and edit them over time. They can make an appointment at any stage after their wedding to come to see their photos on my computer, and to choose their favourites for their wedding album. I then design their album using photos they have chosen, plus a few extras I feel would make good backgrounds in their storybook wedding album. I then email them the design so they can let me know any changes they would like to make match their personal vision - no limit either on this, as it has to be absolutely perfect for them! We only want happy brides and grooms! They can also choose to have their favourite images set to music of their choice in a lovely sideshow, and /or to purchase all usable digital files for printing from themselves and/or order professionally prepared prints from us!

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Only one? If you insist... then I think it should be one that documents the generations - ie everyone descended from the oldest living family member present - so that's why Reel Life Photos like to give a free print to any great grandparents at the wedding,, regardless of their relationship with the couple.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

Possibly one in the Ice Hotel in Sweden where the couple acted out scenes from various fairytales, so in one Art Bedroom with ice sculptures of polar bears, the groom pretended to be the prince who kisses Sleeping Beauty to wake her up.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Umbrellas, welly boots, and be up for creative shots! Don't be frightened about getting wet, as even running hand in hand across cobblestones or gleaming Yorkshire stone paving slabs on your way into the church can be an exhilarating experience, and produces wonderful images with the sheen on the ground looking better even than on a dry day. A change of shoes is a must though!

Describe how you got into photography.

My father gave me a Brownie Box camera - using black and white film - when I was 11, to go on my first ever trip to London with my school. He explained about depth of field, f numbers, film speed etc as his both his father and grandfather were keen photographers. On my 15th birthday I got my first job - a Saturday job in the fruit and veg market in Bradford, and after one whole year of saving up , was able to purchase my first ever SLR camera. It wasn't until my son went to college though to study photography, and subsequently moved to London to further his career, that I had the courage to start out out as a professional wedding photographer.
