What is your most memorable wedding?
The one where everything went wrong! There was a power cut in the middle of the first dance, an elderly uncle fainted (although we feared the worst), and he was being cared for by paramedica 3 feet out of shot while we did the group photographs! But what I really remember was how amazing the bride and groom were despite all the chaos and bad weather. The lesson is - no matter what happens, the key to a good wedding day is to carry yourself with humour and kindness and everyone else will follow your lead.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Fun Caring loving creative
What about your business are you most proud of?
My guarantee. Most photographers won't offer a money back guarantee. I want you to LOVE your photographs and the service you receive. And if for any reason you don't, then I don't deserve to be paid. That's how much I care about taking the very best care of my clients.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Choose suppliers who offer a written and signed guarantee that you'll love their service or they'll give you your money back. It shows they're confident and that they care.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I always love it when the bride and groom dance with their grandparents. I have to pretend I'm fiddling with my camera so people don't see my eyes mist over!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
We sit down together for a chat to see if we're a good fit for each other. This last around 90 minutes. If you want to hire me you pay a deposit which is 1/4 of the total. I'll then invite you to the venue a few weeks before the wedding day so we can plan the photography and any other details. After the wedding day I'll generally have your photographs ready to view within 1-2 weeks (although I do a sneak peek on Facebook on the night of the wedding if you'd like). You can view the photographs at my home on a big projector screen and make any changes you'd like. You get all the best finished and retouched photographs that I show you (around 250) and they will all fit in my albums too. This means you don't have to leave out any photographs you love or have to tell Auntie Mavis why she didn't make the cut! The album is generally delivered within 2-4 weeks of you seeing and approving the photographs.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
It doesn't matter what I think - that's why I always ask my clients what the most important things about their wedding photography are.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
Probably when the bride wanted a photograph of her pretending to stab the groom with the cake knife!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Singing. Sense of humour.
Describe how you got into photography.
I love people and I love making people happy, so this was the ideal choice for me.
