Stonelock Photography Full Description
“Passionate about photography. We don’t believe any other form of communication can capture a moment or tell a story quite so powerfully.” Every wedding story is different because every couple is unique and your wedding is about you and your loved ones. From dressing to dancing. We capture the special moments, drama and emotion of your day as they happen in a timeless and natural style. We combine spontaneous photos with a series of creatively directed dynamic portraits, creating a portfolio of beautiful images that will be treasured for generations to come. We shoot natural and beautiful images with a hint of fine art. Working primarily with natural light our style creates timeless images, in both the shooting of the photographs and the post-production process. We take great care in post-production and we individually edit every image that forms a part of the final collection. We want your photos to age well and not to look dated as styles and fashions change so our editing style is rather subtle, we don’t use trendy filters or instagram effects! We take delight in creating timeless photos that capture the passion, emotion and fun of your special day. A laugh, a sneaky kiss, images of those closest to you sharing in your special moments and love. Formal family photos have their place too if you want them. At times during the day we will direct you into shots and poses that we know, from experience, work and make you look fantastic. A little bit of guidance from us, directing you to the best light or slightly changing the pose, with will help you achieve a composed natural style for your photos. Our Story "We are Ally & AJ, a wife and husband photography team. We have nearly 30 years experience in the photographic and creative arts industries. We live together, we work together, we understand each other and we often know what the other is shooting before they’ve pressed the shutter!"

What is your most memorable wedding?

An absolutely gorgeous wedding in Bristol where we were able to photograph the Bride & Groom on the spot that he proposed on the Clifton Suspension Bridge! Sharing that special moment with them & seeing the love between them was magical!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Natural, beautiful, timeless,

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Be organised in your planning in the run up to the wedding so that on the day itself you can relax & enjoy your day!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

A photo wall of the couples life together right from when they first met through to the weeks leading up to the wedding! The guests loved seeing their story & feeling as if they were a part of it too.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

It’s important that we meet with you before your wedding as we’ll be spending one of the most important days of your life with you! We’ll discuss your specific ideas and chat about the plans for your day to ensure that it’s possible for us to take the photos that you want and equally that you feel comfortable with us, our style and our approach. Then when you choose to book with us we are there every step of the way!

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Beautiful photos of the two of them together! They are the ones that they will look back on in years to come. Followed closely by a photo with their parents!

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

The bride & groom were married at the same Church as her parents were married in 30 years earlier. They wanted to recreate some of her parents wedding photos!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Big umbrellas! We always carry a couple of large white umbrellas in case it rains but think about supplying the Bridal party with umbrellas, maybe all white, or clear or perhaps all different colours. They can help escort guests into the venues, keeping them dry & then you have some fantastic props for some fun photos!

Describe how you got into photography.

My parents gave me my first 'real' camera for my 18th birthday. An old minolta film camera & from then on I took it everywhere & shot everything. Photography was my hobby, I loved telling a story with my photos. I'm really privileged in that I've been able to turn my hobby into a successful career!
