Frequently Asked Questions

What is your most memorable wedding?

Gillian and Craig asked us to be witnesses as well as photographers. for their intimate wedding at Kings Cross Point on Arran, right by the sea with no road access. Craig drove down in a Landrover and Gillian by tractor in full bridal attire. They had picked a beautiful day, the only one in February and it was a magical occasion which we were privileged to share.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Creative, unique, personal, classy, imaginative

What about your business are you most proud of?

Couples always say we made their day better

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Enjoy yourselves

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

A big burly kilted bearded scotsman in tears at the first sight of his new bride

Describe your typical process with a couple.

At our initial meeting I find out what you have planned for your day and we get to know each other which is important. I want you to enjoy the photographic aspect of your day, it comes through in the pictures if you're having fun with them. Apart from the group shots (no more than 10, we don't want to take over your afternoon) and then your Bride and Groom portraits we pretty much photograph your day as it unfolds, most importantly capturing those key moments. I usually have your pictures online within a month. This may sound like a wait but I like to look at the all the images from the day with fresh eyes before editing them down to the selection you will see. I'll then ask you to choose a selection for your album which I will design using those pictures and send you a proof before finally having it printed.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

A candid shot of a moment of intimacy, an unstaged kiss or a reaction to a private joke

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

Many and varied! Difficult to choose between the groom swimming to the shore in a drysuit, removing it to reveal his wedding attire underneath or the couple in the 18th century kitchen in Brodick Castle who wanted a pic of the Groom sitting having a drink whilst his Bride was toiling at the sink.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Don't be put off, the light is usually wonderful. Oh, and a white brolly of course, we always have one ready!!

Describe how you got into photography.

My Grandpa gave me his camera when I was 15. It was very complicated but I was determined to master it.
