What is your most memorable wedding?

I have had so many amazing weddings but the most memorable was probably the lockdown summer wedding when my bride arrived on her horse (which had an accident on her dress but she laughed it off and a quick wash fixed most of it!) I'll never forget the laughs it caused, truly hilarious.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Fun, relaxed, candid, cheerful, memorable

What about your business are you most proud of?

I have been working for myself for over 14 years now after leaving a job I hated in a design agency because I wanted to take photos I really loved. I started by teaching myself on an old film camera in the darkroom in school and I could not be happier that I've managed to build a career doing something I loev and shooting weddings means my photos make people smile every day which is the thing I love most!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Be flexible - have an idea about your most important things that you really can't live without, but compromise on things, share ideas, ask for help when you need it and mostly enjoy it - you'll only get to do it once so make the most of it even when it does get a little sttressful1 I also find one night a week with no wedding chat and a break to talk about other things keeps it fresh

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

I love when people include little personal touches in their day. Favourites I have seen over the years incude personalised cakes, engraved rings, lego button holes, bouquets made out of pages from a favourite book, personalised vows always make me cry and songs you've picked together are always beautiful. I love a fun table plan and table centres and it always makes for a great photo!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Generally it all starts with a message by email or through social media. I always send a few sample galleries of full weddings so you can see what a full gallery looks like. ANyone can take one great pic for a portfolio so I think it's importrant to see a full gallery and the range captured through the day. I have a price and package list I also send that covers my most popular options but all these can be tailored as every wedding is different so I like to find out about your plans! I like to get to know couples so either a chat on the phone/zoom or a cuppa in person is perfect - it means we can chat, answer any questions you have and show you some sample boxsets and so on. When couples want to book I set everything up with a contract and deposit and should your pans need to change it is possible to transfer deposits and also change your package if required.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

This varies so much from couple to couple depending on what matters most to you but I do think it is vital to take some time away just the two of you to get some portraits. It's hard to relax with everyone watching so it makes all the difference and gives you a little time to catch your breath and take it all in!

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

The afore mentioned bride arriving on her horse is up there! But aside from that I've had to include dogs, and kids, and hilarious poses - I love it all!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

I work in Ireland so rainy days are fairly common! Honestly don't stress it - you can't control the weather why let it ruin your day! Have a nice brolly, if you don;t want to ruin your shoes have a spare pair of flats. I can shoot gorgeous shots indoors so thats not a worry and if it drys up at all some plastic lining on the ground will stop your dress getting soggy and let you get outdoor shots too. Rain can even be fun for photos if you don't mind getting a little wet!

Describe how you got into photography.

My photography career started shooting gigs and musicians 2 decades ago when I was still studying photography at college. I first fell in love with photography when I was in school. I always loved art and photography was a new way to create. It also served as a way to get out of maths class by hiding in the darkroom because nobody ever checked there. Needless to say I am still terrible at maths but the photography worked out ok so it’s all good!! After a brief phase photographing old buildings and street art like all art students do, I quickly realised that I LOVED working with people. What better way to meet lots of amazing new people than through photographing their happiest moments. Weddings, engagements and family events – all the big occasions. In my career I’ve shot everyone from Taylor Swift to ACDC. Weddings however, are a really special chance to photograph images people will treasure for years to come and that is a real honour!
