What is your most memorable wedding?
The most memorable weddings for us, are always those where the couple have a relaxed, fun vibe surrounding the day. Weddings are about the two of you celebrating with family and friends in a way that suits you best.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Relaxed, natural, creative, documentary, romantic.
What about your business are you most proud of?
We've worked very hard to build a business from the ground up. We moved to Yorkshire in 2012 without knowing a soul, and now have a successful business with around 50% of our bookings coming from referrals from previous couples and other suppliers we've worked with. So we're quite proud of the job we're doing! :)
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't try to fit too many activities into your day. Keep things simple and relaxed--that way you'll have time to really enjoy it. Oh, and make time for photography if it's important to you. Photos will be all you have left in years to come, so ask your photographer for advice and if they come running to you on the day, telling you how magical the light is as the sun's going down--go with them straightaway! Magic light=magic photos and it very often doesn't last long in the UK! ;)
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
We love dogs (we have a mini dachshund ourselves) so we love it when dogs are included at the wedding (sometimes as a ringbearer!) But we've also seen cats in bowties, and even tortoises holding the rings...pets are part of the family too, so it's lovely to include them.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
I don't think there is one magic photo. Every wedding and every couple are different and it's about capturing you and your partner's personalities, rather than recreating the same photo again and again.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Embrace the rain. You can't go back and do your wedding day over again so just go with it. Make sure you have a pair of wellies if you're somewhere muddy, and an umbrella (although we always have these too) and get out there for at least a little bit. Some of the most memorable images we have are from rainy days. But we can also do things inside at your venue if needs be, too.
Describe how you got into photography.
Colin has always worked in photography to some degree. With a Fine Arts degree, he comes from an artistic and design background and worked commercially for many years, as well as exhibiting in art galleries in his spare time. Heather came from a business background, but had a great creative eye for photography so it made sense for us to work together. We relocated in 2012 and decided to specialise in people--mainly weddings but also portrait photography, and we haven't looked back since!
