Full Description
I could tell you that I’m beyond passionate, totally driven and everything I do, is about becoming better next week than last week. This is the very least that every couple deserves. I’ve trained with some of the top wedding photographers in the world and have featured on the cover of many prestigious wedding magazines, and have actually won awards... but then again every photographer seems to claim this anyway !! The truth is my job is to make you shine, after all this is what your wedding is all about !! As no two weddings are the same and I believe your images should reflect that and stand out from the crowd. That’s why I take a personal approach by discovering who you are, and whats important to you as a couple, as its often the little details that matter. When I arrive on your wedding day you can relax safe in the knowledge that I'll deliver exactly what you want, which is when the real magic happens where you anticipate and enjoy being in each moment. With me by your side, I'll document your wedding as it unfolds naturally, without any fuss or awkward poses, but with plenty of those cinematic landscape inspired photographs with the WOW factor !!

David, goes the extra mile, and then some !!
If you're looking for an enthusiastic, professional photographer who really cares about what you want as a couple, then look no further than David Rucker. We initially met David at The Armathwaite Hall wedding fayre back in November 2016, amongst 10 other photographers. We spoke to everyone but David stuck out for us straight away and we immediately knew our wedding photos were going to be in safe hands. He listened, he wanted to make sure he understood us; as opposed to just telling us what we wanted. We left our details with David, already knowing we had found our man. We were slightly hesitant as we're not particularly comfortable in front of a camera, preferring to be adventuring somewhere in the Lake District mountains. David met this news with real enthusiasm " why didn't we do our photoshoot up Latrigg Fell near Keswick? We met for the photoshoot on a rainy April day in 2017 and could not have felt more at ease. David took some outstanding photos and we were even more confident as we slowly approached our big day. David was not pushy; he wasn't constantly checking in or hassling us, but was at the other end of an email if we needed to ask him anything. When we got to roughly a month before the wedding, he was in touch suggesting we meet for coffee, just to go over the details and make sure he had everything from us he needed to make sure he captured the day as we wanted it. We spent a lovely hour with him going over everything " which shots we wanted, double checking the style and answering all of our questions. He could not have been more committed to the day and we really felt as though we were his only clients! Little did we expect a phone call from the mother of the bride a week before the wedding, explaining that our photographer had visited her house (the place where the bride and bridesmaids were getting ready the morning of the wedding) to get a feel for locations and plan major shots. She then went on to explain that he'd also been to the church and spoken to the vicar. Talk about commitment! Everything was in place thanks to David's hard work and the fact he could listen to what we wanted. The big day finally rolled around and David was true to his word " arriving on time and bringing so much positivity and enthusiasm. He suggested pictures but wasn't overly pushy; he took pictures to capture moments as they happened " which is exactly what we'd asked for. For most of the day, we hardly knew he was there; something we had wanted but didn't think would actually be possible. David left us at roughly 9pm, after taking over 600 photos and making sure he stayed to capture the important stuff in the evening. He even made sure he asked us if there was anything else we needed before he left. Little did we expect that the photos would be up on the website (with a very unique password only we would understand!) in less than a week, along with instructions from David on what to do next so we could get the ball rolling with the wedding album (plus a real interest in how our honeymoon " cycling in the French Alps " had been and which mountains we'd conquered!). Over the next few months, we worked with David over email and our wedding album started to take shape. We received the wedding album and USB stick containing all images a few weeks ago now and we absolutely love them. The wedding album is professional and impressive, and the added bonus of having all 600+ images on a USB stick is a lovely touch; it means we didn't have to choose photos to "get rid of', only those we wanted in the album, and we still have all of the others too. Overall, we leave David after this crazy wedding process feeling like old friends, not photographer and clients. If you're looking for commitment, crazy enthusiasm, stories and pictures to suit your style " David's your man.

I absolutely cannot speak highly enough of David! Not just how every moment of our special day was captured, but also all the laughs we had throughout the day. Literally every one of our wedding guests commented on how impressed they were with David and some of the wow shots we had a little sneak preview to on the day! He is 100% highly recommend from myself and my husband! Thanks so much David!!

What is your most memorable wedding?

Loved documenting my hill walks then when I became a Dad, perfecting my portraits quickly before the moments gone. Now I combine the two and capture beautiful environmental portraiture !!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

A chainsaw shot which was real with cake flying everywhere - see gallery !!

What about your business are you most proud of?

Every email, card or gift I've ever received from a couple gives me a buzz as does seeing your work being regularly featured in weddings magazines, especially when my children see my work on the front cover !!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

When I turned up one minute late and got a hug from the Bride who was in tears as the Hair and Make-up artist had rung an hour earlier to say she was ill and couldn't make it !! Becki was so relived, and together with her bridesmaids did it themselves and we got some wonderful photos of them all mucking in !!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Natural, creative, passionate, unobtrusive and unique !!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Every situation is unique as I've photographed weddings without ever meeting couples, through to several meetings with detailed timelines and lists of photos over one or two glasses of wine. Getting to meet beforehand creates understanding a developing a rapport and often couples often comment that they feel relaxed as when you think about it when was the last time anyone took a thousand plus photos of you on a single day !!

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

When couples write their own vows, so they say what they mean using their own words.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

Smiles, umberela's and embrace the weather !!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

The time set aside just for them where they leave their wedding guests, catch their breath, and realise they've just done it. The relaxed nature of these moments means that they become themselves, relax and without question thats when the magic happens.

Describe how you got into photography.

Trust your gut instinct and do as much as you can to make it unique, its your wedding. Closely followed by choose a professional photographer (don't leave it to cousin Jonny with his DSLR) and make sure you have looked at a complete wedding to see it changes how the photographer captures the light as it changes throughout the day. Its one thing shooting on a cloudy day (easy) as opposed to strong overhead sun, or when its dark or blowing a gale.
