David Tinkler Photography Full Description
Who am I? Hi, I'm David, a wedding photographer from Surrey - working ALL OVER the UK - and sometimes beyond! I deliver amazing photos that you’re going to treasure forever. I’ll be capturing all the little things you’re too wrapped up in the moment to even see. Things that will make you laugh, cry and grin your faces off when you see the pictures. Even more than that, I’ll be your wedding planning advisor; drink/bouquet/make-up fetcher; buttonhole expert; confetti choreographer; general calming presence. Plus I always have sunscreen and tissues in my bag! I believe you should not be spending more than half an hour or so focused on photos during your wedding day. You should live it and enjoy it and relax in the knowledge that I'm capturing it all beautifully for you. Who are you? No cheesy poses, no standing around for hours - you're all about the laughter, tears and dance moves! You probably cringe at the very idea of being photographed - I get that, I'm the same! And the thought of spending hours lined up with a parade of distant relatives, while your canapés and drinks disappear one-by-one, is probably not how you want to spend your wedding day. You are planning a fun wedding and you really want to enjoy it and live it. You are looking for a photographer that understands that and knows how to get great pictures without all of the awkward posing.

The best wedding photographer!
Hiring David as our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions we ever made. He came highly recommended from one of my best friends and he was simply excellent from start to finish. We do not typically enjoy having our photo taken but David made us feel so relaxed and at ease that we genuinely loved it! Our photos and videos are absolutely beautiful and really capture every single emotion of the day. I also love that we get all photos in colour and black & white. David also works super quickly - he returned our engagement shoot photos to us in 24 hours(!) and he sent us c.30 pictures as 'sneak peaks' the day after the wedding (which was very helpful for thank you cards!). In addition to taking beautiful photos and videos, David was super responsive to all emails, helped us to plan our day, provided useful tips to our family members on the day and saved me from dehydrating. It was honestly like having a friend taking your photos all day. We couldn't recommend David highly enough.

Couldn't be happier
David was an amazing find! He is an brilliant photographer. He put everyone at ease, offered amazing nuggets of advice and tips from a pro and clearly had nearly as much fun as we did! We had so much fun during our wedding shoot - David got such beautiful pictures and had us actually enjoying posing for photos! Within 48 hours we had 30 or so sneak peek photos which captured the day brilliantly and showed the love and fun had on the day. We've just received our full gallery and highlight video and they are breathtaking. Absolutely amazing and we'll treasure them forever. The mix of candid and posed shots are fab and every single guest has a new profile-pic worthy photo from our wedding! What a star. Thanks David. ❤️❤️

Outstanding! Exceeded all of my expectations!
David is the most amazing person and a fabulous photographer. My husband hates taking photos and you would never know from our wedding photos. David put us both as ease and made us laugh and feel very comfortable. He felt like an additional guest at our wedding and we had a brilliant time enjoying the day. There is not a single photo that I do not absolutely love and I have recommended David to everyone I know. He even wrote our wedding blog and sent it to us within 24 hours so we could read it before we caught our flight to our honeymoon destination. He went above and beyond and Matt and I cannot rate him highly enough.

Everything
Beyond pleased with David for our wedding photographer. In addition to capturing the day perfectly he was also so helpful and was really unobtrusive which is exactly what we wanted. The photos are natural and we couldn’t recommend David anymore.

Frequently Asked Questions
(10)

What is your most memorable wedding?

I shot a beautiful wedding in Norway in 2018. Fun fact; Norwegian weddings have a LOT of speeches. This one had 14. FOURTEEN speeches. Dinner lasted for about 5 hours, haha!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Natural. Fun. Happy. Candid. Cheese-free!

What about your business are you most proud of?

That many of my couples stay in touch for years after the wedding, hiring me for family pictures, pet pictures, all kind of things. Lots of my couples actually go on to become friends, and I love that so much.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Make a list and arrange it in order of what's most important to you. Take care of things one at a time, crossing them off as you go. That way the things that are most important to you will get taken care of first and your stress will reduce the closer you get to the wedding as you'll know the really important things were arranged ages ago.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

I shot this wedding once where the bride had arranged a double photo frame on the cake stand. One frame had 'Day 1' written above it, and one had 'Day 3653' written above it. Day 3653 was the wedding day. In the first frame she had put a picture they had taken together on their first date, and then after we had done the couples pictures I quickly printed one off and popped it into the frame that said 'Day 3653'. As their guests entered the dining room and noticed the two pictures, everyone went wild - they just loved it. I actually now have my own portable printer just for this purpose, so if you want to do this at your wedding, let me know!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Usually I would meet with the couple prior to booking. Meetings can be in person or via video call. After booking I keep in contact from time to time and as the day nears we have another meeting to go over the details, build a shot list, etc. A day or two after the wedding, with the couples permission, I post a sneak peek (approx 10-15 pictures) on my website. The full gallery is delivered no later than 6 weeks after the wedding.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Every couple is different and no one SHOULD take any particular picture. I always say the most important pictures a couple can take on their wedding day are the ones that they recognise themselves in. The ones where they are being themselves. Those are the ones that will mean the most to them for years and years to come.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

I shot a wedding at a hawk conservancy where the rings were delivered by a beautiful barn owl. That was a pretty cool picture!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

First of all, don't panic! Your venue will be prepared and have places for your guests to be. It's super rare that it rains constantly all day, so even on rainy days it's likely that you'll be able to get outside at some point for photos (plus rain shots are kind of beautiful!) Good vendors are prepared and experienced and are therefore able to cope with rain. If you've hired well, you have nothing to worry about.

Describe how you got into photography.

I was shooting sports (mostly football) for years. I got to work in some wonderful stadiums and at some big games. I shot a few weddings for friends and family and ended up just loving it. I haven't looked back since.
