What is your most memorable wedding?
I've had lots of memorable weddings but love the ones with lots of personality that don't necessarily follow tradition. Wedding breakfasts sat on hay bales, ice-pops for guests, farm yard portraits in wellies, at a village hall watching the cricket.. And even a surprise wedding with no guests!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Natural, light, happy, joyful, pretty
What about your business are you most proud of?
Having documented beautiful memories for my couples and their families, that they will keep forever and pass on to future generations.
What is your #1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't follow the rules! If there's something that you do/don't want to do, just plan the day to reflect yourselves.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I've seen lots of lovely personal touches, but one that stands out from this summer was in church.. After the first kiss the bride and groom (and all their family) then spent a few minutes down the aisle hugging their guests. It was completely unexpected but so lovely to see everyone embracing each other. Even the vicar got a hug!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Usually I hear first through an email or telephone enquiry, then we discuss details and options and I will send my brochure. Sometimes we meet up for a chat and sometimes people are happy to book first and meet later. I have an online booking/payment system. Then closer to the wedding I meet (or Skype/call if it's long distance) with my couple and we have a drink or a brew to chat about the finer details, go over any questions/ideas etc. some couples have an engagement (pre-wedding) shoot so we might do this too. I then turn up on the day knowing them and what they like and leave feeling like a member of their family! I try to post previews when I can a few days after the wedding, but the couple usually see the full set around three to four weeks after. They then get a beautiful parcel from the postman with their USB and some surprises. If they are going for an album we then start the process which an take varying amounts of time.. Choosing images can be a difficult task! I've kept in touch with lots of my brides and grooms via social media and love that.
What is the #1 photo that you think every couple should take?
A photo with their grandparents if they are lucky enough to have them there.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
Bride on a horse
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Embrace it!!! It's only weather.
Describe how you got into photography.
I did an art foundation course which included photography, both digital and also developing in the darkroom. I loved it so went on to do a degree!
