Fairytale Wedding Photography

I think that’s testament to how great Julia was on the day. Not only were her photography skill brilliant and exactly what we were looking for, but her ability to make us feel comfortable in front of the camera, efficiency, charm and charisma made her the perfect photographer. Julia blended into the wedding as if she was a part of the wedding party. Julia has created the most beautiful wedding album for us. A photo can tell a thousand words, and thanks to Julia, ours certainly do.

Julia is quite honestly the best of the best. She was more like a friend than a photographer, which made the experience even better. Communication was amazing from the booking to the big day. We couldn’t have chosen a better photographer to capture not only our wedding but the best day of our lives and other special family moments since then.

My husband Alon and I, knew from the moment we met Julia that she would be the perfect photographer for our wedding. We met Julia at the Knebworth wedding fair and it was quickly clear she was not only an incredibly talented photographer, but an exceptionally kind, friendly and wonderful person. After only a few minutes I felt very relaxed around her, enjoying her company and feeling like I was with a close friend. I was very surprised to find myself sharing my personal story, hopes and worries for our wedding with Julia. My Mum was diagnosed with dementia at a young age, it is now very progressed and in the late stages. I had to accept early on that she wouldn’t be with me the way I would have wanted for the rest of my life, for the small and big moments. Like many things with dementia, accepting that mum wouldn’t be there in person for our wedding was a hard loss but something I just had to accept and adapt to. My dream was for mum to be included, but with dementia it is hard to predict what type of day she would be having, whether she would even recognise me or if worst of all she may be upset by seeing me, but I really wanted to share some of our wedding day with mum and include her as much as possible. Julia teared up listening to our story and was very understanding, supportive and enthusiastic about our ideas on how to include Mum. She had a truly ‘can do attitude’ and amongst other things, offered to come early to help mum and I spend time together the morning of the wedding and take a few pictures for us. She understood that we wouldn’t know until we arrived whether we would even be able to see mum or if she was having a good day how long this may last, but Julia was keen to give it a go anyway and willing to be very flexible. It was clear she genuinely wanted us to have our dream day and without doubt she went above and beyond to make that happen. Julia met me the morning of the wedding at my parents house, the plan was to bring a few wedding pieces to share with mum. It can be scary when you have dementia meeting new people so initially Julia stayed in the background taking candid photographs as mum and I spent time together. I showed mum the canopy she and I had sewn together and that we would be standing under this for the wedding ceremony. Mum quickly warmed to Julia and was comfortable having her there as well as being photographed. Mum wore her engagement ring for the first time in years and we held hands together. Julia took beautiful photographs of us each wearing our own engagement rings and holding hands together. Finally I brought out the wedding veil, lent to me by my aunt who had worn this 24 years earlier when she married my uncle, mum’s brother. Mum’s eyes lit up and there was undoubtedly a recognition there, which made everyone present cry happy tears. Mum then surprised everyone further by posing for a few photographs, looking directly at the camera, again something she hasn’t done for a very long time. My mum has always been the heart and soul of every party and I was determined that we would honour her by having a happy wedding full of joy. For me, that morning with mum was more than I could have dreamed of and the most precious gift I could have been given. Julia’s tact, talent and compassion made this possible. I can’t emphasise enough how important it is to get on with your wedding photographer. I spent more time with Julia on our wedding day than anyone else. She was pretty much by my side from 9am to midnight. Honestly, she felt more like an auntie / maid of honour than anything. She kept me relaxed and laughing all day, shared advice as I was having my hair and make up done and helped make sure everything was running perfectly. Our wedding was a multi-cultural ceremony celebrating Jewish and Iranian heritage. There was a lot going on, with a parade of family members dancing down the aisle, multiple wedding bands including musicians playing darbuka drums and a very personalised ceremony. It is common at Jewish weddings to have several photographers to capture the multiple elements and in the run up to the wedding more than a few people questioned our choice to have just 1 photographer on their own. They couldn’t have been more mistaken! Whilst other photographers may have needed a team of people to be able to photograph the multiple aspects of a fast paced wedding, Julia did not miss a beat. She captured every single moment, she was very diligent ahead of the day proactively meeting with us several times in the run up; making sure we explained the order of the day, where she should be, the style of photographs we wanted and who should be in the photographs. Julia wasn’t afraid to jump straight in, she was creative in her approach and the photos capture the entire day perfectly. She even managed to grab us to get a shot in the rain under a double rainbow. Julia is exceptional and I can’t recommend her enough. I feel very honoured that Julia was our photographer and will be forever grateful to her for making our wedding dreams come true.

We are Beyond Happy with our experience having Julia as our Wedding Photographer! She made it so special for us and Captured everything and more we could have wished for from start to finish! Our Wedding Album is one we will cherish forever especially having lost our Nan shortly after our Wedding we have the most Precious Photos together thanks to Julia!
