We're Jay & Amy, an engaged couple running a photography studio based in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. We think that each and every wedding is as unique as the couples getting married, so your wedding photos should represent you. Your wedding isn’t about posing for hours on end… it’s about celebrating your love for each other. We shoot weddings in a true documentary style - Jay dresses as a guest, mingles and captures all of the moments that matter, as well as the ones you might miss...
His day begins when yours does - from bridal preparation, all the way through to the end of your night - we don’t leave until you do! So yes, you'll have photos of the best man punching out some shapes on the dance floor to look back on, and embarrass them for years to come... Joking aside, as documentary photographers we aim to tell the story of your day, without awkwardness, without fake smiles - we prefer real ones. We hope you'll love our style - and if you want posed shots too, no problem!

Professional, informative and patient
Right from first point of contact Jay and Amy were professional, informative and patient. Having never hired a photographer before it was unknown territory but this amazing couple explained everything from beginning to end. If there was ever a question it was answered fully and at no point were we made to feel like an inconvenience. Jay attended for Bridal Prep photos where he was polite, reassuring and blended in for some lovely natural shots whilst getting ready. During the ceremony no one would have even known Jay was taking photos. His equipment is discreet without sacrificing quality of photos. Jay showed great patience after the ceremony and go some fabulous shots in a beautiful location and made sure everyone got a chance to get pictures with us! During the reception we wouldn't have even known he was there!! He got some absolutely amazing natural photos due to his ability to be inconspicuous (definitely a photographic ninja!)
There wasn't a long wait to get to see our photos either and I must say they are stunning! Beautifully put together with a mixture of colour and black and white photos that just show how much love was at our wedding day. I cannot thank this amazing couple enough for the wonderful experience they provided and if you want a calm, collected and professional service then J & A Photography should be your first choice.... Every time!!

What is your most memorable wedding?
My most memorable wedding is perhaps one held at The City Rooms Leicester, the couple had opted for traditional asian drummers for the after party, during the day the atmosphere was very relaxed but once the drums started thundering everyone went mad on the dancefloor.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Relaxed, honest, emotional, unobtrusive, fun
What about your business are you most proud of?
We both work as a team to fulfil our clients needs, and meet or exceed their expectations. We are also very proud that our photographer Jay has recently been accepted into the Master Photographers Association as a certified professional.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Relax and enjoy, it flies by quickly
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Including loved ones who can't be there in proceedings with candles or having a place set for them at a table.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
First of all our clients are invited to a no obligation consultation where we go over the unique details of their wedding and couples can ask any questions they may have and we ask about all the personal touches, on the day our approach is documentary/reportage so not in your face, blending in like a guest... but with a rather fancy camera, yet still capturing and documenting all the real moments and emotions. After the big day if our clients have opted for a wedding album they are invited back again to be a part of the design process.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Children at weddings, they are free and in the moment, also relatives you may not see very often.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
My most unique moment, one of the brides being surprised by the youth football team she coaches.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Umbrellas.
Describe how you got into photography.
Jay gained BTEC National Diplomas in both Fine Art and Media Studies, with a focus on Photography, while at college. Since then, he has found a passion for shooting documentary style weddings and modern portraits in our Lincolnshire based studio
