What is your most memorable wedding?
Can we say our own? We're so caught up in huge weddings every week that we stripped our own wedding in 2017 back to just us and two witnesses. We got married on a cliff and had a bbq afterwards! Since then, we've had a new outlook on weddings and we really value the people and the intimacy between family and friends. We still like to shoot the details, because after all, we put so much work into them and they have a lot of meaning, but our focus is on the laughs, the love and the good times at weddings.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Relaxed, un-obtrusive, documentary, silly, unserious.
What about your business are you most proud of?
We've shot over 200 weddings together since we started in 2010, and we have such a great working relationship. We love that our job is capturing other people in love.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Make it your own. Ignore the outside influences and do it your way.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Whenever a groom cries.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
We like to chat about your day first either over coffee or via Skype. On the day, we like to blend in with your guests and keep everything natural. We're covert and split up for most of the day which allows us to capture people just enjoying themselves at your wedding. When it comes to group photos, that's when we come back together and wrangle people quickly for some informal family photos that are done and dusted super-quick. After your wedding, we like to get your photos back in your hand within 28 days.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Just a single natural moment of you two together. These are always the ones our couples value the most over anything posed.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Either embrace it, or get snuggled up under cover. It either leads to fun photos of you acting like kids or intimate photos of cuddles.
Describe how you got into photography.
We both studied photography. Lianne has an MA in Anthropology with a focus on photography, James has an MA in Visual Arts, also with a photographic focus. We shot our first wedding when James was doing his undergraduate in Photography in Leeds. Since then, we just went straight into the industry with gusto and never looked back!
