Full Description
Relaxed, romantic, natural wedding photography, from my heart to yours. I specialise in documentary wedding photography with a fine art, natural light approach. My style is warm and friendly. I like to put people at ease and, for the most part, you won't even know I'm there on your wedding day. During the times when I do step forward, to get those all-important group and bridal portraits, I like to keep things loose, have fun with you and generally make people laugh. I'm organised in advance with all the names and details noted and triple checked so that, by the time the day itself comes all we have to do is relax and enjoy. My approach is to be honest and genuine and allow the space for you to be just be yourself. It's in those natural moments with one another that the magic happens, and that's what I'm there to capture. What is your most memorable wedding?

Aaaah, there are so many. From couples who've celebrated mid-ceremony by having tequila shots with their bridal party and ended their day with fire-performers, to beautiful quaint DIY village halls and tiny cocker spaniels round our feet, I tend to get a real eclectic mix of styles and I love the fact that I do. All of my couples are memorable to me in their own ways.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Romantic, candid, artistic, natural, light.

What about your business are you most proud of?

My testimonials from former clients. They are always so warm and it feels wonderful to provide people with images and an experience that they feel so happy with!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Start early & allow plenty of time for YOU on the morning of your wedding. Make sure you have time and space to relax before your ceremony.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Dogs at weddings. Every time. Dogs. Also handtied florals, beautiful use of flowers is always stunning. Mostly when couples make it their own.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Typically the process tends to pivot around us getting to know each other more than anything. The most important thing is that you're really comfortable with your wedding photographer, they're with you for a long time on your wedding day and if they feel like a friend you can trust then it makes the whole process so much easier all round. I'll begin with setting up a quick consultation call with you, to take note of all your details so that I can design a bespoke quote to suit your needs. Then there's the pre-wedding shoot, which only lasts around 15-20 mins but is amazing for helping you get used to being in front of the camera and getting a feel for my style and approach. After that I confirm all details again with you around a month before the big day and then turn up on the day itself and have a blast while you relax and enjoy. Afterwards, I keep you posted with a timeline on when to expect everything and some sneak peeks. The final elements of your package generally arrive with you from around the 10 week post-wedding mark (by this stage we're old pals, connected on Instagram and I'm regularly cooing over photos of your dog... I can't help it, they melt me completely.)

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

I don't really believe in this type of thing. Every couple and every wedding is unique and repeating certain types of photographs with every couple isn't in keeping with my style or approach. It really is up to the couple which images are a must for their own personal day.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Nothing other than to go with it. It's completely up to you whether you're the type of daredevil who wants to get out in it or if you'd rather stay cosy and take shelter, I can work with both. I generally do venue visits before each wedding so that I have an idea of all areas and what could work best depending on what the weather is doing. Rain can be just as romantic as sunshine though, and in fact, sometimes more so. It can create a lovely dewy romantic mist in images and having an umbrella to hand is never a bad idea. Being a wedding photographer in Scotland generally means that weather, no matter what it's doing, doesn't faze you and it's your wedding day after all, it'll be romantic no matter what. My candid, documentary style approach generally means that I'll capture it exactly as it plays out. It's always best to be flexible, go with the flow and don't sweat the stuff you can't control. Rain is at the top of that list.
