What is your most memorable wedding?
So many memorable weddings but the ones with the couples personalities stamped all over them are my definite favourites!
There was the small but raucous one in a beautiful house in Dorset, the outdoor ceremony with a friend officiating, the summer garden party with a quaich, the steampunk celebration in the museum, the 50's bash in Birmingham, every year brings new parties and brilliantly fun couples to photograph - can't wait to see what's in store for yours!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
honest, fun, creative, hedonistic, emotional
What about your business are you most proud of?
I've been a photographer for more years than I care to remember, photographing some amazing people over the years, working for newspapers and magazines all over the world!
I'm proud of everything I've achieved but weddings are where I've landed now and I'm having so much fun which is the biggest achievement of all - to do a job I love and smile every day!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Timeline! Get your times right and your day will flow smoothly!
I'm happy to help with a few tips and tricks to get the most out of your day while managing to fit in any photos you need and still get to the booze table!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Sarah and Johnny's wedding was full of personal touches, most of which Sarah had created herself. It was such a joy to photograph the work that she'd put so much thought, love and effort into.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
From the moment that you book your wedding, I'm available to chat at any time (obviously not at 3 in the morning !)
I try to meet all of my couples for a pre-wedding consultation so we can get a feeling for each others style, find out your plans for the big day and go over any questions you might have.
If you fancy an engagement shoot before the wedding, that can be arranged, I absolutely love pre-wedding shoots and it's another great opportunity to get to know each other a little better although it is in no way compulsory.
The week before the wedding, I'll be available to go over your timeline on the phone and find out if you have any special photo requests.
And then before you know it, it'll be party time and I'll see you on the morning of the wedding!
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Confetti! I love a confetti shot whether it be paper, petals, bubbles or glitter!
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
My couples have always trusted me to take the most creative photos at their wedding, if you book me, you can be safe in the knowledge that I'll arrive with a fresh, creative head on my shoulders and will constantly be looking for the most amazing photo opportunities throughout the day!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
You can't control the weather and if you're happy to go outside with a brolly and maybe get the bottom of that beautiful dress a little bit wet, I guarantee you'll come away with the most amazing photos!
Some of my most creative (and favourite!) shorts have been taken at rainy weddings - if you're enjoying yourself, whatever the weather, your smiles and laughter will give us the best photos imaginable, however torrential the storm!
Describe how you got into photography.
I started in newspapers, working for some of the top publications around the world - The Guardian, Times, Telegraph, Daily Mail, Time Magazine, Cosmo, Q, Marie Claire Italia - while having the time of my life living in NYC! I've had photos on the covers of best selling books and CD's (remember them?!) I've shot for Sony BMG, Random House, Amnesty International, Virgin Records, Clinique and Sub Pop, among many, many others and then I shot a wedding.
And loved it!
