Full Description
  • Hello, I'm Nancy, but most people call me Nance... I'm a full-time Wedding & Portrait Photographer from Lancashire. I consider myself very, very lucky to be doing something I adore, I love how my clients allow me to be creative with their big day. My clients also love my quirky little style and I try to shoot a wedding as candid and unposed as possible for them with a few formals for good measure. I'm based in Lancashire, Chorley to be exact but will travel the length and breadth of the universe (petrol & expenses apply obviously) for a fabulous wedding. I really like to really get to know my Wedding Clients, I feel you've got to get to know a person's, likes, dislikes, loves, hobbies and by knowing all their little quirks, their favourite music, colour etc...it really impacts on my photography. It brings my photography even more to life, it brings it soul, substance, and depth if that's possible. Good communication is key in wedding and portrait photography and having a pleasant and calm personality is very important. Also, another very important factor is after the wedding! I go visit my newlyweds with USB's, book orders, prints and any questions they may have. Not everybody is computer savvy and it just helps my clients immensely to have an awesome after service too. Most of my clients have now become personal friends, which speaks for itself.

Ask a question
What is your most memorable wedding?
They're all memorable for very different reasons and the reason I say that is because we are all individual. Each wedding has its awesome merits and I simply couldn't choose and nor would I want to.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Creative Spontaneous Organised Fun Arty
What about your business are you most proud of?
Word of mouth referrals.
What is your #1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Logistics, Logistics, Logistics!!!!!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
A glance from a very nervous bride to me; I mouthed to her that everything would be ok...she wrote about it in her review here: http://www.nancylisabarrettphotography.co.uk/reviews
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Always coffee first, haha. I get them to talk about how they met, the important details, and their hobbies, likes, dislikes. I have a massive notebook which I write in without looking I may add because I don't want to lose eye contact. It's very informal, relaxed but at the same time, I'm listening to all the relevant info. I ask lots of questions.
What is the #1 photo that you think every couple should take?
There isn't one...they're all different, just the way as it should be.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
The Bride & Groom in the middle of The Shambles in York. They stood stock still as the crowds passed by them. The shot was on such a slow shutter speed that the crowd blurred but they remained in focus. It was like a replay of when they first met when they knew they were made for each other and nothing and nobody mattered around them. I tried to recreate it in that shot because of what they had told me. I can safely say it's one of their favourite shots x
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
A covered flash about 25ft behind the newly-weds and a flash camera left in front of the B&G and a brolly for them and one for me. The flash will show all the raindrops up and look a teeny weeny bit awesome.
Describe how you got into photography.
I've always adored cinematography, art, crafts and photography to me was the next logical and emotional step. I think a photograph should come from the heart. I think that composition is a true thing of beauty. Photography isn't just a job to me, it's a way of life...
