Nicola Gough Photography Full Description
Shropshire wedding photographer and all round good egg, eats cake not kale, seeks loved up couples who are planning a wedding where food, music and having fun are top priorities. Bad weather is not enough to stop you from enjoying the best day ever. You’ll be planning a fun, relaxed wedding that incorporates your personality into it. You’re going to embrace the day (and each other) and smile until your cheeks ache from sheer joy. Whether your wedding is a small elopement or a mass gathering, or a bit in between, it’s my absolute pleasure to photograph people in love. My favourite things about weddings… It’s the people who make a wedding; the Nan who goes rogue with the confetti, or when your best mate, who’s not usually a crier, bawls their eyes out during your ceremony. I love being in the room when a dad sees his daughter as a bride for the first time, getting to capture the hugs and the hand squeezes, and a thousand other moments just like this in between.

Cannot recommend Nicola enough
Cannot recommend Nicola enough! Nicola shot our wedding and everyone commented on how friendly she was and her ability to put people at ease. We also had a pre-wedding shoot with Nicola which was lovely and relaxed to ease us into be photographed. Nicola is a real professional and knew exactly what images to capture - lots of candid shots and beautiful colours.

Could not have wished for a better photographer
Nicola photographed our wedding in August 2022 and we could not have wished for a better photographer. She is so warm and lovely instantly made us feel more relaxed in front of the camera. The photos are stunning, and she has really captured the essence and joy of the day. So many or our guests have commented on how lovely she was and how well she integrated into the day.

Not enough superlatives to describe how good!
Just not enough superlatives to describe how good Nicola is. Not only did she get some fantastic photos of us to remember our day with but on the day she was helpful, friendly and our guests absolutely loved her. If you want a warm and friendly, down to earth photographer who will get some fabulous (and hilarious) candid shots, as well as making you feel so at ease when posing for the romantic shots, then book Nicola.

She made us laugh and cry with some of the photos!
So Nicola photographed a family members wedding and as soon as we got engaged we knew we wanted her to be our photographer. We had zoom meetings to discuss what we wanted and had plans in place and then covid hit. Nicola was so supportive throughout the whole thing and we were very lucky that she was available on our new wedding date. Our photos were perfect, everything we asked for and more! She was such a huge part of our day and the journey to get there and we will be forever grateful!

Nicola is an absolute dream
We met Nicola at my best friends wedding and loved her so of course we booked her for our wedding. She is the ideal person to have around on your wedding day, such a calming influence on the day and gets the most perfect pictures to treasure for a life time. Nicola is an absolute dream and would highly recommend her! 100000/10 xxx

Frequently Asked Questions
(10)

What is your most memorable wedding?

I've photographed over 200 weddings, so it's hard to narrow it down to just one. But Dads who get emotional at the sight of their daughter as a bride will always make me cry.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Relaxed, instinctive, natural, informal and fun

What about your business are you most proud of?

That in an ever changing industry I'm still shooting weddings after 12 years, and I hope I never have to stop!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don't get hung up on the weather. It's the only thing you can't control so let it go. And yes, your dress will get dirty, even on a bone dry day spent entirely indoors. Get over it. And there's no such thing as too much confetti.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

So many but this one really got me... the bride and groom had children from previous relationships as well as a son together. The bride's daughter really wanted to take the surname of her step dad/the groom but her real dad wouldn't allow it. So, on the wedding day, the groom/step dad had a necklace made for her and a pair of shoes with her new initials and surprised her with them during the speeches saying: "no matter what it says on paper, you are my daughter and I will always love you as my own." Not a dry eye in the house.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

We'll chat, see if we're a good fit and go from there. There's no need to have lots of meetings on the run up but a coffee and cake before the big day is always encouraged. You can expect to have some sneak peeks of your wedding within 24/48 hours after the wedding, and then the full gallery will be ready about 5/6 weeks after the big day.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Confetti!

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

Every wedding is original, but a memorable one involved Mexican wrestling masks.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Embrace it! Grab a brolly or some wellies and just enjoy it. Don't let the Great British weather stop you from having the best day ever.

Describe how you got into photography.

Like everyone who likes photography, it was a hobby long before I made any money out of it. Something I did in and around the day job. I studied a HND and later a degree in photography (I didn't graduate, that's another story!) I also began working as a studio assistant who could adjust lights and make great cups of tea, then photographed wannabe models for their portfolios, and then my first wedding in 2009.
