Phil Rees Photography offers stylish, contemporary wedding photography in Wrexham, and throughout North & Mid Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire. Priding ourselves on friendliness and approachability, we offer the confidence that comes from dealing with an experienced and thoroughly professional wedding photographer, leaving you free to relax and enjoy every moment of your day. Keeping the obligatory posed images and family group shots to a reasonable number, and placing the accent instead on natural, spontaneous images, we guarantee beautiful wedding photography that captures your personality. Phil Rees Photography is based at the Plassey, near Bangor on Dee (where you’ll also find a bridal shop, custom jeweller and cake maker). You’re free to call in to view examples of our work, and albums, or we can meet elsewhere, outside hours, if it’s more convenient. Our wedding packages are flexible, and cover a broad range, from album packages based around the beautiful hand-made Graphistudio Storybooks, to USB-only packages, and bespoke packages for smaller intimate weddings, civil partnerships and renewal of vows. Most of our work comes from recommendation, and dates tend to get booked up well in advance. Your booking can be reserved with just a small deposit, so please contact us early to check availability, and secure your date.

What is your most memorable wedding?
Impossible to answer! Far too many to choose from!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Relaxed, Natural, Stylish, Contemporary, Upbeat!
What about your business are you most proud of?
That so much of my business comes from recommendation from happy clients. And that they don't just love the photography; they love the service and personal attention they get.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Your day will go very quickly, and you want to be able to enjoy every minute. Choosing a well-organised and experienced photographer, who prioritises your enjoyment of the day, and who works quickly and efficiently and makes sure that the photography doesn't take over, can make all the difference.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Again, so many. Possibly origami bouquets, made with paper from a superhero comic book - they were amazing!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
It depends if they're local to me or not, but typically I'll meet them at my studio for a consultation when they book, to talk about my style and approach, with another meeting about a month before to finalise the schedule, group photos and so on. Everything is well documented, and I'm client-orientated with customer service that's a bit different to most - so, for example, my contracts are focused on my commitment to the bride & groom rather than being cram-full of 'get out' clauses - and there's plenty of other unique features too.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
A simple but relaxed portrait of the two of you. We'll do plenty more besides, but that's still the one your parents will want for their mantelpiece, and that your grandchildren and great-grandchildren will treasure.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
The bride, dressed as Wally (as in Where's Wally?) !
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Flexibility in your schedule, so that we can get outside during the dry bits. But I'll have identified a few spots indoors we can use, if that's not possible. Don't stress too much though - of the nearly 200 weddings I've done to date, there were only 5 where we didn't get outside at all - it's much less of a risk than we might think.
Describe how you got into photography.
I'd always been an amateur photographer - my 18th & 21st birthday presents were cameras. And going professional was always something I thought I might do when I'd had enough of my 'first career'. So when the time came, I did.
