Russell Lewis Photography Full Description
Russell Lewis is a Herefordshire based Wedding Photographer with a BA(hons) in photography and is an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society. Russell opened and ran a busy professional photography lab for six years before focusing purely on Wedding and Portrait photography in 2006. His work has featured in numerous publications throughout the UK and he travels both nationally and internationally to cover weddings for clients. ‘Photography for me is about capturing fleeting moments; the look in someone's eye, the expression on their face or the beauty in a scene. Exploring weddings with this passion has enabled me to develop a very personal and unique portfolio. My work is very much based on observation, in a world that often misses the finer details.’

You've actually brought a tear to my eye
We were evening guests at Abi & Carl's wedding. Whenever people know you are the photographer for the day they know they are in for the best service and can't wait to see the photos! We were only there for the evening but you managed to capture my daughter down to a tee, gymnastics and dancing! We had a great evening, and you've actually brought a tear to my eye with what you have secretly photographed of us on the dancefloor! Thank you!

He genuinely cared
Russell photographed our wedding day and we wouldn’t of changed a thing! From the moment he arrived he was more than just a photographer. Russell was so helpful, organising everyone and ensured that he learnt everyone’s names making our experience so personal. He genuinely cared and felt like a guest at our wedding! He captured the most incredible pictures and we couldn’t be happier. Thank you Russell!

You are a superstar
We cannot thank you enough for what you did for us on the day, you were so much more than a photographer. You made such a difference to our day, you were calm, considered, fun and creative and most of all you just put us and our guests at ease. As well as creating beautiful photos. You are a superstar

Would recommend him 100%.
For a person that absolutely hates having her picture taken it was a total pleasure to have Russell capture our wedding day. All his years of experience paid off, he was brilliant at organising our guests and we have a beautiful album that documents our day perfectly. I would recommend him 100%.

I was so happy when he said he could do my wedding
I first met Russell at my sister’s wedding 4yrs previous to my own, back then I thought if I do ever get married he’s my photographer! I was so happy when Russell said he could do my wedding and love the photographs he took. Russell not only has the ability to take wonderful photos, natural and captivating but he was brilliant at helping to organise the wedding party to create great memories. He said ‘see me as the chief usher’, he was more than that!

Russell told our story in a way we’ll treasure
We are very happy with the photos that Russell took for us on our wedding day. He really captured the happy moments of the day- great real, touching expressions not posed or false. Beautiful ‘still’ photos that show the setting, flowers etc which complement the ‘action’ shots. Also, we had the photos on an extremely sweet USB ( I won’t spoil the surprise) within 3 weeks. Russell told our story in photos in a way we’ll treasure.

Frequently Asked Questions
(10)

What is your most memorable wedding?

The first wedding I ever covered for someone I didn't know. I was a nervous wreck and ran on adrenaline all day.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Observational, natural, personal, heartfelt, timeless

What about your business are you most proud of?

The fact that I cover so many weddings for people who know one another. I covered a wedding a few years ago where out of 80 guests I'd photographed 7 couples' weddings, that's a wonderful feeling.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Try not to get too caught up in what should happen at a wedding, think outside the box and make your day your own

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Pennies as favours with a request that each guest throws their penny into the well in the corner of the room and makes a wish for the bride and groom.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

I prefer very much to respond to situations on the day and so other than verifying timings and group photo requirements there's very little more to do before the wedding day itself.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Confetti shots!

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

By original I take it you don't mean good!? Probably a shot where it looks as though the bride standing in the groom's hands like the kind of shot where people look like they're holding up the leaning tower of Pisa!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Umbrellas!

Describe how you got into photography.

I always have been, my father worked for Kodak and I studied photography at University
