Scott Sharples Photography Full Description
Hi I'm Scott and I love what I do! Spending time with people, their families and friends on one of the happiest days of their life - who wouldn't?! I'm a Cornwall based wedding photographer and consider myself lucky to shoot special days in some of the most stunning venues and locations out there! I will travel further afield too if the date is free so don't be afraid to ask if what I do hits the spot for you. I'm really friendly so just pop me a mail if you want to ask a question, chat or just tell me about your day! I shoot in a relaxed way, not interfering with your day and only taking a small amount of time to shoot your couples shots and groups if you want them to allow you to enjoy the time with your guests. When I'm not shooting weddings, I'm out with my black Lab, cycling with the kids, climbing or kayaking, making the most of what is special about Cornwall as I think it is so important to make the most of what I am lucky enough to have on my doorstep. I'd love to hear from you, no pressure, no upselling albums to you unless you want to talk about them, coz none of us really like pushy peeps do we....

Frequently Asked Questions
(10)

What is your most memorable wedding?

Probably the one where Granma was a bit tipsy by 10am but I can't say too much more than that!!!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Documentary, observational, relaxed, natural, smiley!

What about your business are you most proud of?

That the majority of my bookings come to me via recommendations and / or work of mouth

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

To walk through their day in their head with their photographer to take the unknowns and pressure out of the day itself. Relax and take time to make some mental memories of your own on the day.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

I always like it when there is a guest at the wedding with a musical talent who takes part - for some reason they always float my boat!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Generally an email exchange is where things start, maybe a call too. We swap dates, venues and availability info and then clarify anything that a couple might want to ask or know (getting married isn't something we do everyday right?) and then confirm a booking if the couple are comfortable with me and my style of shooting. A deposit saves the date and then things can go quiet for a little while if the booking is well in advance. Nearer the day, I try to meet my couples to say Hi, chat about details and visit venues if at all possible. The remaining balance is paid 30 days before the wedding. On the day itself, I'll like to get to the bride early and spend time at the bridal prep so the bride can relax knowing I have arrived and then I do what I do. No pushyness, it's not about me. I'll stay till after the first dance normally (hugs and cuddles and goodbyes) and then I aim to get photos to the couple within 4 weeks.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

I'm not sure there is any such thing, every wedding and every couple are unique and so a formula doesn't really work for me!

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

I loved the idea of the couple holding their parents wedding picture whilst having their image shot, family is the most important thing to me, period.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

In Cornwall seriously? The sun always shines here!! Ok - Wellies and brollies can make for good images......

Describe how you got into photography.

I remember my parents giving me a little 110 flip camera at about 8 or 9 years old and I have always shot images since then, it took me a while to go digital as I loved the alchemy of the image appearing in my darkroom but digital cameras are sooooo good these days. I have a love of the outdoors and nature and I always feel 'in balance' when clicking that shutter! For some people it's yoga, for me it's photography.
