Reportage / Documentary
Hello there! I’m Priya, the face behind the camera and I’m delighted that you’ve wandered over to my little corner of the Internet. I’m a documentary wedding photographer and I also love creating lifestyle portraitures. I’m based near Birmingham and I’m often found photographing all over the country and abroad, so national and international weddings feed my other passion… travelling! Your wedding day is one of the most important days you’ll experience and for this reason, its important that you feel comfortable and connected with your photographer so I’m sharing a little bit about me and my world before I step into yours. I have always loved photography, the interaction between people and telling their stories. It fascinates me. I realised after 5 years of trying to find a job that I loved (and failing) that my dream job was wedding and portrait photography. Any chance I get, I immerse myself into learning about photography, engaging with other photographers, networking and growing my skillset and after being made redundant, I decided to turn my side hustle into my full-time role. In 2014 I founded SORRISO Wedding Photography and I have never looked back. I truly adore what I do and the wonderful people I meet along the way. Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

What about your business are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the friendships I've gained with my couples. They're not just my clients, they are an integral part of my passion.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Keep an expanding file. This way you can file all of your contracts and schedules as well as keep all your payments and documents organised. You can date each pocket with the month so you keep on track with all your payment dates and meetings with venues/suppliers.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
We go for a hot beverage while we discuss your day and your plans. I talk you through my process here and hand you a little welcome pack once a booking is confirmed.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Prepare for the weather but DO NOT let it define your wedding day. Make it a part of your wedding day story. If it rains... heck, go out and dance in the rain. It'll make for beautiful photographs but more importantly, beautiful memories.
Describe how you got into photography.
It may be a little cliche but I grew up around photography. My mother attended night classes at college and when she couldn't find or afford childcare, she would take me along with her. It was here I was introduced to negative film photography and dark room processing. From there, photography became my hobby before it became a profession. I often look at things differently. I have a habit of people watching and seeing how people interact. Elderly couples holding hands on a bus, fathers protecting their newborns on a shopping trip with their significant other. I escaped my reality with photography and thats when I knew it would be a lifelong career for me.
