Tony Mattingley Photography Full Description
Hi, I am Tony. I was born and grew up in the heart of the New Forest in Hampshire although I now live in Bedfordshire and photograph in all the surrounding counties of Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, London and indeed the whole of the UK and abroad. My professional award winning photography work, started in the world of motor sports. I fell into wedding and family photography - the story of which is too long for here. Following professional training in 2004-2005, I moved into portrait and wedding photography which I have now specialised in since since 2006. I am passionate about photography but also just as passionate about customer service and being able to capture your story through beautiful timeless imagery. I am always thrilled and excited to be the one responsible for documenting one of the happiest days of your and your family's and friends lives. I love being able to offer support and advise to my couples through their wedding planning process and then to finally create some magic on your Big Day. By capturing precious fleeting moments, intricate details, beautiful light and of course emotions on steroids. All this work is then pulled together into a wonderful uniquely designed wedding album using your favourite images from the day. I design your album personally and once you have agreed the design, it will be crafted here in the UK at one of the premier printing labs.

What is your most memorable wedding?

There are so many to be honest however, I would probably have to say Harriet and James back in 2011.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Unobtrusive, flowing, observational, timeless,

What about your business are you most proud of?

Simply the outstanding service I offer my clients. There are many excellent and talented photographers however, by always going the extra mile for my clients, I believe the service sets me apart.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Book a photographer you feel comfortable with and get on well with. Obviously you also have to like their work, but remember you are spending your entire wedding day with this person.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

I believe every couple's wedding is unique and I photograph each wedding as uniquely as I can. I don't tend to have a fixed set of images in mind however, I really enjoy doing one big group shot of everyone. Capturing at least one image with every single person in attendance together on the day; possibly a rare occurrence if not a once in a lifetime occurrence.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

I am not sure if this is original or more bizarre? The bride was from Greece, marrying an Englishman. During some portrait shots of her, after the ceremony she said she would like the traditional panty shot as she had blue panties on. I thought something had been lost in translation and she meant the garter shot. However she really did mean a photograph of her blue panties. I still have no idea on this one, best to just move on I think:-/

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

A white or transparent umbrella.

Describe how you got into photography.

My mum was a keen amateur photographer, right from when I was just a baby so I grew up with photography and started myself in my teens...many years ago now.
