James Hasler The Man In The Red Coat Full Description
There are Toastmasters and there are toastmasters, and then there is The Man in the Red Coat. Younger than the average Toastmaster, less military but just as commanding. James comes from a customer service background and fully understands that the day is all about you and your guests. Following a pre-meeting where all your wishes are laid out and the schedule is determined, you can begin to relax about the day itself. He works in parallel with all your other suppliers, coordinating with each of them and controlling the timing of your great day. Whilst working with them, he also guides you and all your guests through the day's rituals and ceremonies, in some case giving explanations and in others just encouraging movement. Everything is done with a smile and with warmth, but when required, authority. If you ever wondered why you would need a toastmaster, then if you want to enjoy the day as much as your guests, that has to be the best reason. You can relax, chat and enjoy the company of your family and friends in the knowledge that someone is watching the clock, coordinating the show and that when you are needed he will come and give you warning that something is going to happen. Why choose The Man in the Red Coat over other Toastmasters? Well, because he does not come from a military background, but one from performing arts and customer service, he has the ability to adjust his delivery to a style that is to your liking. So not every delivery is the same. He is tall at 6' 3" and so, regardless of whether he is dressed in his red coat, is normally identifiable. He is also a trainer by trade, when not guiding people through events, and his specialty is presentation skills. So he can give all your speakers guidance and extra confidence should they require it on or before the day. Finally, on the subject of confidence, that is a word you should remember. Getting married is expensive, so don't waste it on delivery. Use The Man in the Red Coat and have confidence!

Fantastic Job Throughout
James was the toastmaster for our wedding in November 2021 and did a fantastic job throughout. Prior to the wedding day, James scheduled meetings with us to discuss the running of our day and offer advice, guidance and pearls of wisdom, which was a great help during all the stress of planning and preparing for such a big event. During the wedding he was attentive to us as the bride and groom, and to all of our guests. He ensured the day ran smoothly and made it a seamless day from start to finish. Thank you James!

Always a calm presence
We had James as a Toastmaster for our multi-faith (Hindu/Jewish) wedding last month and he was absolutely brilliant. In the lead up to the wedding, our meeting with James helped us plan the order of the day and his reassuring manner put our minds at ease that everything would run smoothly. James had really good tips on how to effectively organise the reception and helped to ensure our vision became a reality. On the day, James helped handle some delays with our other suppliers and was always a calm presence (which was much needed!) He worked really well with all the suppliers and managed to get our event back on track while simultaneously keeping all of our guests updated of the changing plans. James' knowledge of both Hindu & Jewish weddings is second to none and his explanations of the events during the day was really detailed and helped to keep our guests informed and engaged with all the different traditions and customs. James was invaluable on the day and is the ideal Toastmaster. All of our guests commented on how brilliant he was and we would 100% recommend him for any event. Thank you again James!

All we had to do was enjoy the ride!
James was absolutely brilliant on our wedding day. Not only that; he took the time to talk to us several times before the day to ensure he knows us as a couple and who our guests are, and gave us good tips for the day which helped to make everything perfect and smooth. He looked after us and the guests with such attention to detail that everyone was able to just relax and enjoy the day. Everything run smoothly and on time, James personalised everything especially for us and memorised everyone’s names. He included inside jokes about the guests into his introductions making the atmosphere really intimate and everyone had such a lovely day from the morning to night. I couldn’t rate him any higher; he checked we’re fine throughout the day which we of course were as he took care of absolutely everything. All we had to do was enjoy the ride! Thank you James for making our wedding so perfect!

James was the perfect toastmaster at my wedding and reception. He takes away a lot of the stress of the day and keeps things flowing and really does know how to keep the crowd in order. His energy and enthusiasm entertains the crowd well and we cannot recommend him enough. Thank you James for hosting an amazing day for us.

Frequently Asked Questions
(10)

What is your most memorable wedding?

I have been so lucky to attend weddings all over. I ran the 2017 £5M wedding at Blenheim Palace, that was unbelievably memorable. In 2016 I ran one at the Grove where I had to improvise a Dhol player substitution. You can make a lot of noise with a ladle and a cooking tray! I get to work in the most amazing venues with intimate numbers of around 60 up to massive numbers of around 900 for a Muslim Walima however, the most memorable has to be that of a daughter of a friend of mine who recently got married. Emotional seeing a young girl I had known as a child mature into a beautiful bride and looking so happy.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Tall, Personable, Commanding, Warm, Adaptable

What about your business are you most proud of?

The way it has grown in popularity in such a short space of time and in particular the number of referrals I get.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

If you have a large number of guests to be seated, do 2 designs of table plan. 1 showing the location of the table and the other in guest alphabetical order showing the table number or name next to theirs. (Bonus tip is don't sweat the small stuff!)

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

The couple in question who were just amazing had a plane fly by with a just married banner behind it. This was arranged by the groom without the bride's knowledge, so I had to get everybody outside to see it. However, just before I gave the command to go he said that there was also a photographer on the plane. So I quickly got everyone in a circle around the bride and groom and then tweaked it into a giant heart shape. - It worked.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

We meet up. Do we like each other? If yes, we discuss needs and schedule. Go away and continue planning, communicating with each other whenever necessary. 10 days prior or less we speak again to check any changes. On the day, I turn up early, they enjoy themselves and I coordinate everything until the DJ takes over (where applicable). I am available once contract is signed whenever, at the end of the phone for advice and discussion. I am not a wedding planner, but I know what works if advice is required especially with respect to timing.

What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?

The appearance and timing of acts that are to perform by surprise. I think choreographing the arrival of an impromptu rapper so that no-one knew until he had started that he was there was not only tricky but blindingly amusing - we nailed it between the two of us.

How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?

Sounds like I am blowing my own trumpet but, by having me there... Once you have handed over your schedule, relax and trust those you have engaged to run the show as you want it. If you are needed I will come and guide you. So enjoy the company of your friends and family. This may be your one and only wedding, but in the last three years alone I have got married just under 150 times. So rely on my experience to remove the stress from your day. Don't take my word for this - read the reviews.

What do you love most about your job?

Working with and for such a wide variety of people. I am an avid team player and leader and always treat everyone I work with as an equal and with respect. I find it makes for a much nicer place to work - for everyone. Weddings are also happy occasions, so why would I not wish to work in such a happy environment. I also get to work in some fantastic places, and not just in the UK too. Last year I worked in Venice, Vienna, Cologne, and this year I am off to Marbella, Las Vegas and dare I say it, Brussels!

What is your favourite moment at a wedding?

Probably the first dance. For two reasons. It is for me normally the bit just before I can relax. Secondly seeing couples so in love and together and although they know that everyone is watching they dance like they are the only people there.
