What is your most memorable wedding?
I was privileged beyond words to officiate the wedding ceremony of my two dearest friends at their stunning cortijo in the heart of rural Andalucia surrounded by olive trees as far as the eye could see. Truly memorable.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Smiley. Warm. Fun. Responsible. Empathetic.
What about your business are you most proud of?
Being a celebrant for me is the vocation that just keeps on giving.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
If a reading or poem does not speak to you as if it were written especially for you, leave it out. This is your special day and every little detail should be bespoke and perfect.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
As we are in Spain, it is not always possible for all of the important family members to be present. So livestreaming the ceremony enables everyone to feel a part of the celebrations.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
A face to face chat either in person or online is the absolute most important first step. Simply put, my couples must like me and feel that I "get" them in order for me to begin crafting their bespoke script. I never ask for a commitment immediately, I insist they go away and think about me.... after all, without the celebrant the wedding won't happen so this decision is more important even than choosing the bride's dress!
What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?
No question is too small or too silly and nothing that I would consider to be unusual comes to mind re the wedding planning.
How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?
I ensure that everyone knows exactly what their role is during the wedding ceremony and I gently hand-hold every step of the way.
What do you love most about your job?
Top wedding planning tip: Interview a number of celebrants before you choose one.
What is your favourite moment at a wedding?
My favourite moment at the wedding is THE KISS!
