Before becoming an Independent Celebrant I have had nearly 20 years experience as a Dept.Superintendent Registrar, organizing and conducting weddings for a large local authority. Your ceremony is the centrepiece of your celebration and should be a hugely enjoyable and personal experience. I would like you to be able to create the best of memories on one of the most important days of your life – something that helps reflect your personalities and feelings for each other and create a day full of love with your family and friends. I now spend my time between the UK and the Tuscany/Umbria border in Italy, so if your choice is a festival wedding under the Old Oak tree or overlooking the vineyards under the shade of a Tuscan olive grove, get in touch and let's have the most fun in planning your dream day. You may not know where to begin or what you would like and that is where I can help; to bring out the true significance of an occasion you will remember for the rest of your lives. With a celebrant, your ceremony will be completely personal. You can choose any words, readings or music that you wish. You can include any personal touches to make the day unique. Some couples are bursting with ideas and others are unsure what they can do. Don’t worry, I can help and guide you to create a bespoke and personal ceremony that is as formal or informal as you want, but most importantly, something that feels right for both of you. If you need help writing vows or choosing music or readings then I can be there with suggestions. You are also free to have the ceremony wherever you want: in a teepee, at home, in the woods, on the beach or a location that has special associations for you both.

What is your most memorable wedding?
Helping a shy couple who did not know where to start in planning their ceremony. Had not really considered the possibility of music, readings or poems or asking freinds and family to lay a role in the ceremony. One party was techy and other more romantic but between us we arrived at a lovely 'starry' theme as they both enjoyed science fiction. I found some readings with a cosmic feel, the music leant heavily on Star Wars. Both old and young members of the family and several special friends all played a part by reading, affirming friendships and witnessing so that the overwhelming feeling of love on the day became so strong that no-one wanted it to end.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Fun, creative, professional, reliable, sensitive.
What about your business are you most proud of?
My experience of working with couples and families to create something special, personal and memorable.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Consider each other's expectations and wishes for the day....first and foremost.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Dog ring bearers
Describe your typical process with a couple.
We have an initial meeting to discuss your ideas and get to know each other. I am very happy to meet for a no-obligation, free consultation so that I can answer any questions you may have and you can decide if you would like me to be your celebrant. After our first meeting, if you decide to use my services, we will meet again. I’d like to spend some time getting to know you and what your hopes are for your ceremony. A few months before the ceremony I will send you a script and unlike a civil ceremony we will work together until you are happy with the final draft. If you are using a wedding planner, then I will coordinate with them, as necessary. If you wish we can meet again at the venue for a rehearsal so that you feel more relaxed about the big day. Your entrance, exits, who does what and when and how to set up your photographs, as you only get one go at this. On the day I will arrive at least half an hour before the ceremony so that I can ensure everything runs smoothly, including coordinating with the photographer, musicians, and everyone else involved. After the ceremony, you will get a commemorative certificate and a printed copy of your ceremony.
What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?
A gay Elvis themed wedding.
How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?
Arriving in plenty of time, to allow time to speak to everyone involved so that everyone knows their cues and roles and to make sure that all the bride and groom have to do is to enjoy it all.
What do you love most about your job?
The privilege of playing a part in one of the most important days in people's lives.
What is your favourite moment at a wedding?
The exchange of rings....laughter and tears, but always the most meaningful moment.
