What is your most memorable wedding?
Probably the first Bride I made jewellery for. She wanted a set of customised freshwater pearls for herself and her bridesmaid. It was the fact that it was my first "proper" order and she was over the moon with the result.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Handmade, Original, Alternative, Classy, Unique.
What about your business are you most proud of?
I love to see a satisfied customer. Whether they buy a simple pair of earrings or a fancy piece, the smile on their face says it all.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Take your time to decide what YOU want, not what others want.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
A friend of mine makes the most fabulous wedding stationery and she has the most wonderful eye for detail. Her work is just amazing. I've seen some name tags on an Alice of Wonderland theme she made. She didn't just add the name, she drew each one individually with characters from the book. Just stunning.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I mainly meet with the Bride rather than the couple. We first have an initial informal chat when we first meet. We arrange a meeting and visits me at my home in Swindon where I work from. We discuss her ideas, I show her some of my designs and materials as it is important that the Bride can see exactly in her own hand some sample pieces and the materials themselves. We discuss her requirements and budget. Agree on this. Deposit is paid and I get to work. Once the pieces are made we meet again for the collection of the items and payment of the balance. If the Bride is not local, we exchange emails and photos, etc, to ensure that the Bride is happy with the end result.
What is your favourite proposal story?
It's got to be mine. It's not romantic, but it still makes me smile. My husband asked me to marry him when he was in hospital with a bad back. He didn't have a ring. It was nothing glamorous. If I am honest, when he asked me I laughed (I'm not the most romantic of people) as I wasn't expecting it. I said yes. We have been married 28 years.
