What is your most memorable wedding?
As the jewellers, we don't actually get to see the 'big day' ...
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Contemporary, stylish, quality, fresh, lasting.
What about your business are you most proud of?
Combining the traditional and modern jewellery techniques from highly skilled experts, producing entirely bespoke and handcrafted British products.
What is your #1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Invest in your jewellery! It will get far more use for far longer than any other aspect of your wedding day and is the most often inherited / passed down heirloom.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Describe your typical process with a couple.
The first thing is for our designers to talk through all the options and find out what it is the customer is after with regards to design, functionality, whether or not they are looking to incorporate inherited metal / stones, whether they are looking for a bespoke piece or something from one of our ranges. In the case of a bespoke design, we normally provide a slection of options for the customer to choose from. All the designs and quotes are provided free of charge and obligation. Gemstones and diamonds can be viewed on appro to ensure the size and colour are just right before proceeding. Once the design is agreed, we then need anything from 4-8 weeks to manufacture the piece, depending on the design and process used. As we design and make the jewellery from our open plan studio workshop at the Sonkai store, some couples do choose to come in during the process to watch and even take photo's of videos of our goldsmith working on their jewellery!
What are your favourite wedding traditions for rings?
Definitely having some discreet engraving inside, just the names of each person and the date, nothing too much. Not only is it very sentimental but also practical in case they get lost!
What is the most romantic engraving you have seen on a wedding ring?
We had an Elvish one once. Sadly I forget what it said but the whole thing was just beautiful.
Which ring do you think holds most significance for a bride?
I think the wedding band. Nothing is truly sealed until this is on and it's nearly always a joint process for the couple when choosing the wedding bands.
What is your favourite proposal story?
The seemingly spontaneous ones (even if very well planned!) that catch her genuinely unawares :-)
