What is your most memorable wedding?
We created rustic bespoke stationery for an outdoor wedding set in the Yorkshire countryside, complete with hand tied lace and sprigs of dried local lavender. The finished pieces looked fantastic and smelt even better!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Rustic, illustrative, botanical, colourful, affordable
What about your business are you most proud of?
We are always most proud of working together, and how we combine our different skills to make truly unique designs. David is the main illustrator, drawing in traditional pen and ink, which Rosie colours digitally then adds typography and finishing touches to. Collaborating together and merging our experience means our work really is one-of-a-kind. Newport Street is a way for us to work together as a couple, creating designs for other happy couples!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
To order a few extra invitations for last minute or unplanned guests! We always recommend including extras to accommodate guest list changes, and so that you can have a set as a keepsake too.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
It's always interesting to see how couples add a touch of themselves to their Big Day - personally I love to see a unique table plan that tells you more about the couple and the adventures they've experienced together.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Our studio ranges are available to browse online, but if we're working with a couple on a bespoke design we like to try and get to know them and their aspiration first - either with a consultation call or emai - whichever is best for them! If a couple has several ideas, we can create moodboards to help them focus their thoughts into one idea. We can source finishing touches such as ribbons or wax seals, and provide a detailed quote so there are no unexpected costs.
What is the most important piece of stationery for a wedding and why?
Save the Date cards can set the tone for your celebrations and ensure that your nearest and dearest are aware of your plans way in advance. They're also great if you're excited to send out invitations but don't have all your details finalised yet!
What is your best seller?
Our bestseller has to be our Fingerprint Occasion Tree - an A2 or A3 sized print featuring our signature heart-shaped tree illustration. Guests can 'leaf' their print on the tree, and add their initials to create a truly unique keepsake that you can treasure forever. Sold with guest instructions and 3 coloured ink pads to coordinate with your wedding scheme, we can also personalise the prints with hand written calligraphy to commemorate your special day.
How do you add romance to any wedding stationery you do?
We are lucky enough to live, love and work together - so there's always a little bit of romance in every one of our designs!
