This unique venue is set in 6.5 acres of ancient oak woodland in the Loveny Valley at St Neot, Liskeard, Cornwall. Carnglaze is a heritage site based on the slate mining industry that over hundreds of years went from an open cast quarry to a underground network of caverns. The three underground caverns were created by the skills of the miners.
In the second World War the first cavern was requisitioned by The Royal Navy to store the supply of rum for the Devonport Naval yard in Plymouth. Hence it is now known as The Rum Store.
The second cavern is accessed via a flight of 60 steps into the Cathedral Cavern giving the opportunity of a grand entrance.
From there you gain access to the stunning crystal, clear blue-green Underground Lake, providing one of the most spectacular locations to hold your wedding.
Why not make a day of it? Once you have chosen which location to have your ceremony in, you can either retire to the Vine Conservatory for a drinks and canapes reception or invite your friends to share a full evening reception in The Rum Store, with its fully licensed bar.
As Carnglaze is a sustainable woodland we would ask that you do not use traditional confetti but rather bubbles. Natural flower petals are acceptable in the gardens only. The exit from the Caverns forms a wonderful opportunity to have a bubble guard of honour, which gives rise to some amazing photographs.
When in the Cathedral Cavern, you will be required to wear a safety helmet, including the bride which can always be decorated.
For costings please contact us as these vary due to the day, time, season, and your own personal requirements.
